Post Lucky Bag Questions and LOTTERY follow-up Q
I have seen reference to "lucky bags," usually in the context of a kaiju figure being referred to as a "lucky bag" version or colorway.

What is the origination and meaning of the term "lucky bag" as used in this way by M-1 and other companies?

Who gets the "lucky bags"?

Is it something that people get as a reward for something (like for being subscribed to a toy series or being a member of a toy club)?

Or are "lucky bags" made available to anyone that wants to buy one from time to time?

Are the "lucky bags" always blind (in that you don't know how "lucky" you are going to be until you open it?

What types of figures or other items are usually included in a lucky bag?

It looks as though quite a few of the lucky bag items come unpainted, and the recipient then has the option to send them in for painting. Is the paint job they get different from other releases of the same figure (not lucky bag related)?

Thanks for any info. Just curious... And it is about toys...

Post Re: Lucky Bag Questions
lucky bags are a japanese retail tradition. At new years sales retailers bag up unsold stuff and sell it at a discount in blind bags. The bags usually come in different price ranges. Gargamel did a similar thing this past new year with 3000yen, 5000yen, 10,000yen and (i think it was) 30,000. Of course in Garg's case it was all new stuff and some of the bags of course had chases. RxH did the same. I haven't really analyzed all the subtlties of the kinds of bags Japanese toymakers do. One year one company does it and before you know it its a tradition. Now that you mention it RxH had unpainted figs in his bags

What about "lottery" figures? Are these, as the name implies, figures that someone had the opportunity to buy through some random drawing process?

Didn't Gargamel have one priced at 100,000? I seem to remember that.
