Hopefully that put the nail in the coffin of that stupid band. Hopefully, unless he finds a way to tour again to raise more money. On that note, when they did that reunion tour a few years back, they were egged while playing in Chicago (due to them being shitty and apparently asking for some ridiculous guarantee). That was possibly the only reason I wish I had been at that show.

 Re: Music?
- Red Sparowes - Aphorisms / waiting for the full album, quite disappointed by this one, looks like they're sleeping on their guitar
- JESU - Battle of Mice Split / Great for the Battle of Mice side, JESU is too downtempo
- Swans - Holy Money + Greed
- Neva - Untitled 12" / Neva is the defunct French Virgin Prunes, but a bit more electronic
- Boris - Boris at last -Feedbacker-
- Sonic Youth - Goo

That kind of stuff used to make me so angry. Here we were literally fighting to be heard then some clowns come along and it's all a joke to them.

 Re: Music?
Stan Wilson: fusing American folk with multi-ethnic African based traditions (caribbean, salsa, blues, calypso), Stan Wilson was the original Taj Mahal (kind of). He's mostly forgotten despite having released 15 albums of material (some live performance recordings tho) and from Oakland, born in 1922. Died in 1970, his website is awesome bad. http://www.lazyka.com/stanwilson/Content/welcome.htmRobby Robber and the Hijackers -early 60s soul album "Let's Twist Again" Enter the Magical Mystery Chambers: WuTang vs. The Beatles Los Sonambulos: Mexican rockers from 1960, one album recorded "Rock Con Los Sonambulos" Lots of great covers here, ex: Grandes Bolas de Fuego. WARREN ZEVON: entire discography, but in particular the albums Excitable Boy, My Ride's Here. If you haven't heard "I'll sleep when I'm dead" you are missing out. No time to rest, there's plenty on the farm, I'LL SLEEP WHEN I'M DEAD! this has become a mantra for me this month.

Usually it's: NOFX The Aquabats Groovie Ghoulies Flogging Molly Bouncing Souls The Epoxies RX Bandits Catch 22 ...but lately it's been nothing but Johnny Cash and Hank Williams Sr.

I asked the some people who would know and said fat bob is very much serious but that some of it is obviously tongue in cheek.
I don't know what any of those skinheads bands sound like other than a bunch of dudes chanting over some fairly average three chord songs. Don't get me wrong, I like plenty of stupid music, I just can't get behind anything associated with skinheads. I gave that record a listen though based on the opinion of someone that I generally think has decent musical taste. After the second or third song the joke was wearing pretty thin. I'm not a fan of joke bands either. Funny bands, oh hell yeah, but joke bands no thanks.

i thought this was a monstrehero victim figure for a second. are they good joe?
would people mind putting a year/genre next to the albums they are mentioning? Some are more obvious than others, but it would be helpful. I've bought a few good albums from these different music lists. (thanks to whomever suggested Kilimanjaro by The Teardrop Explodes, it wasn't from this list, but it rules)

This will probably be the best album I'm going to hear all year long.

Mandala? I really like all their albums, which I know a lot of people don't. I enjoy the progress and experimentations they've had as a band. That said, Halfway Between Here & There will always be my favorite. Probably because it's when I really started to get into them, and also because they started to branch out a bit musically. I really like "It's Only Another Parsec?" and "Bled To Be Free" off of Mandala.
