its probably from all the intact giant squid ink-sacs culled from the belly of harvested sperm whales. the paper, while i may be wrong here, i think it is made by hives of tiny, industrious wasps forced to live in very thin spaces. the paper is then sliced into individual sheets by way of samurai sword. so i heard. it was in tokyo underground, i swear.
