Because it says so right on the label... :P

The handcrafted aspect + the sticker sheets (reminiscent of Colorforms, imo) bring a breath of fresh air to the usual soul-less "platform" toys.
(what can I say, I am a sucker for stickers)

Hollow cast resin, must save a ton in shipping...

Very toit indeed!

I just picked up one of the mini miigii packs. For 10 bucks how can you lose.
I'm not really a fan of western platform, but I love those little guys for some reason. Maybe it's the idea of stickers.
Goo Goo Ghandi looks cool too. I'd get one just to examine rotocast hollow resin.

Just saw on his flickr it's a one off for Phillips. Hopefully he'll release some on his website soon.

I have seen this piece in person and I can tell you that Spencer has some serious skills! This thing is so rad up close! Hollow cast and the color is embedded in the resin. Spencer is going to blow some minds with some of the new stuff he is going to drop!

Well, from what I know, there are no machines involved, and he does each one by hand. No 2 pieces are alike! I'm not quite sure the level of difficulty, but by looks of the GGG, it probably took quality time and whole lotta patience!

Look forward to this very limited release.

Yeah, they make a rotocasting resin, but I think all it does is cure a bit slower so you can coat the mold. I'm not sure what Spencer uses, but clear resin usually takes a lot longer to set up, so I can imagine rotocasting with it is definitely labor intensive! From the looks of his work, it's well worth it.

Post Re: Spencer Hibert's Goo Goo Ghandi
I ordered one of the mini Miigii packs from Spencer. A few weeks had passed and I hadn't heard anything about shipping, so I emailed him, Spencer explained he had gotten alot of orders and was drained of miigiis and just finishing up some new ones and he'd ship mine priority with some extra goodies. the mini pack is 10 bucks the shipping is 2. I told him not to. On a 12$ order I didn't want him to lose out on 3 bucks. I got my package today, and I was expecting a few extra stickers (which were in there), but he had also doubled my order. An extra miigii pack for free, on top of that the custom was a hand cast clear rainbow resin miigii. I know the cost and labor of resin, and to take such care on a mini piece like that and then include it as a bonus, I was very happy. Oh yeah, Spencer also hand illustrated one of the Miigii boxes-Very cool.
Anyway, I just wanted to let everyone know how amazing Spencer's customer service is. To get that kind of VIP treatment on a 10 buck order blew me away.

Spencer is the man! I am the co-owner of SOYAL Gallery with him in Scottsdale. We just moved in a couple of weeks ago, but we have some giant sleeping fiberglass Killers, Oliver Hibert paintings, a full MiiGii display and some really cool painted bombs as well. In April we will be having Grant Wiggins solo show. If you live in the area stop on in and say hello. We have some great stuff planned for the future. If you want to be on the mailing list just send us an email.

We will be doing a soft opening this March. Our grand opening is April 1st with a solo show by Grant Wiggins. You can stop on bye now if you would like. Tues-Fri 11 am - 5 pm, Thursdays open until 9 or 10 for Art Walk. Sat 10 am - 9 pm. If you want to be on the mailing list just send me a message to emmett@soyalgallery.com.

If anyone local wants to check out the bombs come by soon they are selling fast! We have had an amazing response here in Scottsdale. We will be in Phoenix Home and Garden in the March and April editions. Getting lots of support from the city and art community down here as well. We are having a hell of a start for just being kinda open the past 3 weeks. Just put up the gallery logo in the window tonight.

Spencer's also sending up 100 mini vending machine Miigiis to give out for free, so hope to see you there. Neon Monster's booth is 944 & 946. There will be resins by Arbito, Bwana, Monstrehero...many more. The latest link: http://blog.neonmonster.com/tag/wonderc ... n-showcase

These may come in at the last minute. I think Bwana is busy with his Ball's Out, if ya know what I mean.

Everything else is in (I think) for the Resin Showcase. Wait til you see the Goo Goo Ghandis. Got them yesterday. Amazing. I hope people can come see these in person at Wondercon. Spencer's photos are great, but if you can touch the rotocasted resin, some folks may re-think anti-resin attitudes. Not to mention, these are really just terrific, the packaging is cool and the prices are good. Dibs on the green one. I'll post pics this afternoon.

Is there a Wondercon thread happening here?
