 Re: Zollmen Database- updated 2/28/10
I posted the same comment as yours upon the first Zollmen X Medicom release and everyone here disagreed telling me Medicom has a looooooong history of releasing vinyl.
But I still feel the same as you : handicraft VS MASS PRODUCTION.
Did you manage to get the Maza too ?

 Re: Zollmen Database- updated 2/28/10
I must have missed that thread. Yes its through that Medicom has a long history and they are really good at what they're doing too. But it's just different, you know what I mean.
But having said that, I don't want to be a toy snob either, haha. Afterall, the pairing did produce one of the best looking MB.
No, I couldn't afford a Maza from the secondary market. Got a family to feed. Haha.

 Re: Zollmen Database- updated 2/28/10
Medicom rules, if the only reason someone dislikes them is because they're larger than I can't get behind that. Bigger or not they take some risks, who else would have gone with an insane idea like Kubricks back when they hit? Or $100+ ultra-quality 12" figures? Now those are all over but when RAH and Kubricks started no one else was generating those types of toys with the quality Medicom does. I'm not some cheerleader for them but I don't see what you dudes are saying is all. Again, what other bigger toys company would go and make release colabs with smaller vinyl companies? "Oh they're just jumping on the bandwagon!" you might cry but they make PLENTY of money w/o Zollmen and Gargamel colabs. They have a Star Wars line, they're set. They seem to do it because they just like the toys. It's different, yeah, but not BAD and if ANY larger toy company is going to colab with these types of figures Medicom seems natural. If my rant here is pretty much the same thing I spit out when the subject was first brought up, sorry, I just woke up

You're pretty sharp for someone that just woke up. You're right about Medicom. Just that those were my thoughts that went through my head. Sort of like a confession. Hey its Lent. Like I said I was glad I went ahead and got him and judge it as a cool toy.

Yes, you were the one to react and said basically the same thing. I respect your point of view.
But I will say again it too : I love Medicom but Kaiju Sofubi is basically not their main field of interest. And there collab did not help us get those item either being a japan restricted lottery.
As for Kubricks, their are indeed top quality, but before them there was a brand who did little articulated characters, you may have heard of it, it's called Lego.

Did you manage to get the Maza too ? The Medicom Maza looks a lot more detailed than the other Maza releases. The metal parts are silver and the smaller metal parts are differentiated with silvery chrome. Its expertly painted even if its "mass produced".

 Re: Zollmen Database- updated 2/28/10
Well I must precise, the Zollmen X Medicom lotteries can't be classified as mass production, since the run is as little as any other Zollmen release.
But, Medicom's other main products are mass-produced. I don't understand why they care doing this collab except for the hype of Zollmen items.
And I tried getting those items, especially the Maza, and lost. Sad as it looks amazing.
Maybe Medicom is preparing a Zollmen Kubrick line !

I'm gonna say it's a crazy reason like "THEY LIKE THE FIGURES!" They've done SB and Garg colabs too. Why would Medicom need "hype" money? How much do we think they're making off these? They've got some of the biggest lines out there. I think that a small run of vinyl where part of the money has to go to the original company making them isn't making them a lot of bank. It's not like they're some flipper set up like Old Balance turned out to be. I personally sold a Zollmen figure to someone at Medicom/Project 1/6 Store so someone there is into them that's all I think. Zollmen Kubricks wouldn't totally shock me, they did a Bee Bearbrick.

Are the heads two different colors? From Paul's photo it looks like one is green and the other is blue. Or is that just the light?

Congrats, Paul! This is the best release yet.
Love the pastel colors. Paired with the classic red eyes, the combo just pops! Are the eyes orange on the green head?

Stone wrote: same here! I haven't had a bit of luck with zollmen lotteries Hahahaha I don't even try anymore. I actually have better luck getting most of what I want on the secondary market/BST wants lists for retailish than I do with the lotteries so I stopped trying. You're welcome to those who haven't stopped trying. When you're record is like 1/16 it's time to quit I felt like. I'd try again but for now I stopped, no big stink. Was this a Devilman homage?
