My money is on the Super7 Monster family bringing in new collectors who are leaving KidRobot in search of something more exciting.

I think that's giving more credit to the average KR consumer than they deserve.

It was because of the demise of the Uglydoll Forum, I just know it  Glad to have found Skullbrain, and to pluck up enough courage to start posting. We'd plushers were warned that Skullbrainers would
"eat us alive"

I don't know. It's interesting that the increase in traffic here happened as KR's simultaneously dropped. That and the demand for some of the newer Super7 stuff, especially with non-kaiju collectors, makes me think there's something to this theory.

Or maybe it's the other way around, and you're giving Monster Family's too much credit !

Nah, I too think it's the Rose Vampire craze...

Post Re: Site Analytics for Gearheads
I'm just going by all the new members I see joining. Seems like most of them are chasing and asking for Monster Family releases. The bigger artist names attached to the series I can see being a draw for the western crowd. And lastly most of the figures are kind of cute and have that very smooth polished finish I could see appealing as well - more so than cruder rougher kaiju figures.

Also, I was in ToyTokyo a few weeks ago and was told a lot of non-kaiju collectors had been coming in looking for Monster Family releases. I think they have a cross over appeal that both western and kaiju collectors can dig.

Spot on. It's why Monster Family has caught fire in a more widespread manner than the SOI fight figures did. Not only are they cool in that hybrid sort of way, but fans of the contributing artists get a kick out of that aspect too. Given that some of the contributors are well-liked in the "western" scene, I think S7 has clearly hit a smart stride with the little critters.

However I don't know that the respective trends in the metric are corelated directly in any way that can be pinpointed with certainty. I haven't visited the KR board for about two years but this weekend I was told that things have changed dramatically, with a lot of the more respected old-timers over there having abandoned ship, which doesn't necessarily relate to the rising popularity of S7 (but may in part, especially if people want to keep collecting but are tired of KR.)

On the other hand, whether or not KR events play into it, it's a safe bet that an increase in traffic here is related to Monster Family figures. This appears to be supported in the increase in enthusiastic comments from either new folks or those known to have a foot in "both worlds" who like the Monster Family figures. There have also been some "wow, I need to get some of this Blobpus stuff!" types of comments lately which appear to indicate that the fire is spreading.

Interesting times!

We're counting on you old timers to crush all annoying, hipster elitism as it occurs here. Please.

Btw, I don't come from the KR school. I'm only here because they stopped publishing the S7 magazine.

I think there is a data error or maybe it was the cupcake release.
