Post Re: Maybe The Worst Thing This Wife Could Do
The sad thing is that she doesn't understand why it hurt him. "How can I get him to admit he was wrong?" You can't, because he wasn't "wrong," he just loves and values something that you have no interest in or understanding of. There are probably things you value that he doesn't understand, either. Such are people.

I've seen lots of complaints here about the GF/BF/Spouse/Significant Other having issues with the toy collections. They're amusing and sometimes you can see both sides. But what's lacking in this story is diplomacy and apparently real communication.

Ouch.

Yeah, I saw this. Kind of reminds me of the video of the girlfriend trashing the Star Wars collection. If this were real the story would be more about why this guy was sentenced to life in prison.

Or why a jury of his otaku peers found him not guilty. :)

I'm sure this lady has always been crazy and I blame him just as much for marrying her.

BTW, this sounds made up.

My wife used to ask if I looked at other women. Now its all you do is sit and stare at that cabinet. :D

"He seems to have been collecting them since he was a kid, and he filled like four cardboard boxes with them. Sometimes he'd take them out and gaze at them lovingly"

My wife just gasped and called her a I FART A LOT. Divorce is such an understatement over something like that. You just DON'T DO THAT. I'm really surprised she's actually still alive to write in to this column in the first place...

Four cardboard boxes only ! She actually married a relatively reasonable collector !

It's funny people always consider that it's the others who have a problem... She's just a pain psychopath.

I didn't really start collecting kaiju or anything larger than mini figures until my GF and I had been together for half a year. At first she didn't understand the appeal. The key is communication, and involving them in your interests. not only has my GF come to appreciate my toys, she seems to be more excited by new arrivals then I am.

I've known more than one collector whose wife would not allow a single toy in the house. Guys with sick collections, who kept everything in boxes in storage.

sorry to hear about your divorce Coop. I guess it's good to have all of your toys where you work. Keeps you inspired and constantly reminds me why I need to work more.

Oh, there's one of those folks on this board. I was shocked when I heard that his wife makes him keep his collection hidden, given his awesome collection.

I couldn't imagine having to hide my collection! Why bother if you have to keep everything stored away or hidden?

Actually, I keep my stuff in storage. It's cool because I forget about things and when I feel like digging in it can be quite a joyful experience. The downside is buying doubles. :|
