No, I didn't attempt. I'm OK w/ having a couple of his books around. I've got the Tree Show and the Snow Yak Microportfolio and I've bought my girlfriend those same plus a couple others - that tiny Blood book among them (like that one).

Are you signed up for the mailing list? I got an email it was coming a couple days ago. Don't know if that would've helped or not.

Let me ask you a question if you know. What's the significance of all the Abraham Lincoln's in his art?

Apparently Bunnies and Bees has an essay titled Tracing the connection between bunnies, bees, and Abe Lincoln by Mike Mcgee. I've got a friend who has that portfolio - I'll need to borrow it from her.

But if you've got a quick synopsis - I'm still interested :)

Yeah, I knew about it a month or so ago.

I was all ready to go and then...BOOM...sold out at noon (it went on sale at noon).

Hopefully, it will be released as a print.

He paint in a amazingly relaxed manner. Impresive nonetheless.

Wish I could have even attempted trying to get this one - but I can't drop another $1,000 (after framing). Still wish I had gotten the Creatrix as that's my favorite of his lithographs so far. But I'm happy with General Sherman and Pumpkin President.

Yeah, thats the way i looked at it too. It would have been a nice companion to the Creatrix, but i can't drop the money on it plus frame. I think $500 seems to be a good price point for these, they sell out rather quickly and the flipping doesn't get too crazy, except for the Creatrix. But that one was only $200.

Amazing stuff. His painting style IS amazingly relaxed, but it's funny to see what he painted in that video (the broad strokes, so to speak) and then see the finished piece with the crazy amounts of detail.

Another Ryden Painting Time Lapse video - Pink Lincoln.

Sounds like a young Orson Welles narrating it.

Glad you enjoyed it.

If I remember, the latest Porterhouse book - the Tree Show - has a bunch of photos of frames being carved in Thailand.

Some more paintings and frames from the same show as Incarnation & Pink Lincoln.

I like how he uses a $5 bill for reference in the beginning , haha.

MR book signing of the Snow Yak book @ SFMOMA the evening of August 12th.

If any of you SF residents are planning on going and wouldn't mind picking an extra up for me, please let me know. I can always pick a copy up online but if I can get a signed copy - even better.

Thanks!

modern master at work. Thanks for the links
I could probably watch the footage at real speed. I've seen time lapse of stencil and graffti artists but this is actually impressive and remarkable.

i'd love a signed copy as well (after poorbadger gets hooked up, of course)

i checked out the show at paul kasmin a few months back and it was very impressive. The scale of some of his work is amazing.. This specific piece (incarnation) is quite large and in person it almost looks as though the girl's skin is pulled back exposing the meat underneath, instead of a meat corset or what have you..
