 Resurgence of Sell Offs?
Is it my imagination, or is there a second big wave of sell offs? There was the first big wave half a year back or so, but a second tsunami seems to be hitting recently.

 Re: Resurgence of Sell Offs?
the board has a lot more traffic in the last 6 months. I assume more people equal more sales but I don't pay that much attention to these kinda things anymore.

 Re: Resurgence of Sell Offs?
There's been a lot of bigger sales in the past 2 weeks, I noticed it too. There were several Anraku threads, a few Bemon came up, a bunch of early zags and recent zags in several sales along with a Miborah, quite a bit of pushead(even a cococroc), and a decent sized bounty hunter thread. I'm sure I'm forgetting some stuff in there too.
I was thinking about this earlier which is why it's all in my head. Any reason for this, who knows? I just wish my pocket were bottomless so I could enjoy giving some of these sales my money.

It seems to come and go in spurts, there will be long stretches of nothing and then...BOOM...HP Bemon and then the chain reaction starts. I can't complain as I have picked up some stuff that I've wanted for a long time and at great prices...win win!

 Re: Resurgence of Sell Offs?
I don't know. I actually haven't seen any change and it seems on par with the other years I've been active. The only major sell off movement that I've been aware of was with rxh. But I think they've made a huge resurgence since. The loyal fans haven't blinked an eye and there are a lot of newcomers who appreciated Mori's work.
Not everyone likes Bemon toys or AA toys...I just think people might notice them more because they don't come up as often as other years.

 Re: Resurgence of Sell Offs?
usually a couple of large sell offs create a nice little chain reaction with people scrambling to get funds which means more sell offs. I just sold some grail stuff myself to get an even bigger grail. I'm glad the dust has settled for me at least and I'm pretty happy with the trade off. Thanks to everyone who helped.

 Re: Resurgence of Sell Offs?
I picked some good stuff up on E-bay in the past few weeks. Judging by being the only bidder and some of them BIN I may be the only one who thinks it's good stuff. But a good couple of weeks for collecting.

I think we've definitely seen this trend shift... when I joined up back last summer, I think it was around the tail-end of the RxH purges, and when RxH 'clicked' for me, I was able to snap up some 'starter' figures for nothing, but since then it's leveled off some. There's still some 'commons' that seem to trade hands every few weeks, but less purging. I know I'm hanging on to my stuff It is funny how the 'big guns' seem to go in a sort of cyclical fashion, and we're definitely in the peak of the cycle right now I suppose the proximity to big events makes sense, but we've seen some pretty 'primo' stuff lately.

 Re: Resurgence of Sell Offs?
Most of the "big guns" as mentioned were all sold for good reasons and branching out, at least from the people I know that have sold a bunch of stuff off.
I won't be selling much anymore, my collection is whittled down a lot and I'm branching out to other stuff anyway. There have been some excellent items here lately, I just am not buying toys right now (not many anyway). I'll save for some future events that I plan on attending.

 Re: Resurgence of Sell Offs?
This will probably sound crazy but I've been happy to see some folks selling off RxH at not-below-original-retail prices.

 Re: Resurgence of Sell Offs?
We've been swooping in on recent sales lately. We have one of those calendars you can write on and Nate wrote down everything we've bought so far and even he told me, "Woman! Stop buying so much stuff!" Me: The sales are bitter sweet for us because you can only buy so much before you can't. ~Maddie EDIT: Also thought the sell off is being driven by taxes? Taxes due this month as I recall.

Makes a lot of sense. Prices have been crazily low as well - the bad side effect being some people (ok, me) might hesitate buying toys even for retail price since they sold for half that recently...

 Re: Resurgence of Sell Offs?
That's just how this hobby is. People sell for many reasons most common is they're chasing something and can live without some things, sometimes things in normal life matter more. Sometimes people just want out or have decided to collect something else. That's when you tend to see rarer stuff.
