 SDCC news The marketing director of SDCC was on the local NPR affiliate this
morning. He said they are making a decision on moving SDCC in a month.
It will either stay in SD or move to Anaheim or Los Angeles. Las Vegas
is out of the question. He also talked about how there is going
to be a bunch of advertising inside the convention this year. More
signs and banners with ads from companies and sponsors.

Many of us who drive in already have hotel arrangements in SD. I mean the Con moving to LA would mean no need for hotels for us but for Anaheim it's a different story. You're going to be competing for space with the summer tourists heading for Disneyland.

Re: SDCC news well, it seems so perfect at SD... but it's outgrown the space. I also would have preferred Vegas... don't have to worry about space, hotel and cheap hookers.

Re: SDCC news I really hope they stick around (for obvious closeness reasons), but they really need to expand the convention center. As it stands right now, there's just too many people packed into that place for the con.

Re: SDCC news There is a plan, but it wouldn't be ready until 2015. So even if it's approved, SD will have to beg SDCC to stay crowded for an extra 3 years. Quote: Officials say the larger center could possibly open in 2015. The San Diego Convention Center Corp. is seeking to extend the agreement an additional three years. They are also securing commitments from three waterfront hotels to provide 300,000 square feet of meeting space for the con from 2013 to 2015. There’s also an effort by the city of San Diego to increase the number of convention hotel rooms from 7,000 to 14,000, which would definitely give the city an advantage over the competing cities.
