Post So I am moving to San Diego CA HELP!
So after a lot of hard work and 8 weeks in Shreveport LA, I applied and got the promotion I was looking for. So I will be Uhauling my life happily from Austin TX to San Diego CA

I do need some help though, I have been to SD 9 times for the SDCC, I am not familiar with the area in regards to renting apartments etc. I will be moving out there in the next 3 weeks or so.
I know some brainers have lived there and some may still do, I was wondering if someone can point me to a decent area to live or a good apartment locator agency.
The area I will largely be working out of is Kearny Mesa so in that area would be nice but not required
Thank

I'm still in San Diego. If you still have my number give me a call and I'll give you the low down on where to live.

Kearny Mesa is a nice area ( I work there) but definitely not the most desirable 'hood to live in. If you're looking for affordable rent and want to live close I would suggest North Park / South Park, Golden Hill ( my neighborhood and a straight shot up the 163/805 to Kearny Mesa) University Heights or even Mission Valley although I'm not a big fan.

As far as using an apartment locator I would suggest using Craigslist. It has always worked for me.

i wouldnt recommend living in mission valley due to the prices. the places are nice and everything but it seems to be a hassle, especially during football season.

north park would be great since its probably about 10 minutes away from kearny mesa.

Congrats, welcome to Sad Sak land!

Kearney Mesa is pretty central to a lot of different areas with a good range of affordability (I work in that area too), so you should be pretty set for a decent place to live. Downtown/East Village is where I live, but depending on how much you have to spend for rent there should be something in a cool neighborhood that's just a 15-20 minute drive to your job. DeathBomb is definitely right about Craigslist, it's easily the best way to apartment hunt.

Yeah that's true, mission valley is a bit high. But who doesn't want to live close to IKEA? I'll also add Normal Heights to my list. Plenty of bars, restaurants and coffee shops all within walking distance.

Super cool.
I've been here 3 months and absolutely love it!
So far University heights totally agrees with me.
Although I haven't really had time to bar hop or anything seems like a lot is going on here.

The food around here is stupendous for sure!
I got fish taco learned by wtfunks yesterday. Wow!
All the good Japanese markets and restaurants are in Kearny so that's a win for you there!

Awesome and congrats on the job. hmmm, Austin and SD? You sure must be doing something right! I lived in SD about 10yrs ago, so probably way too much has changed for me to give good advice. However, one thing to consider in a hunt is whether you're into the beach or not. If you really love the ocean and want to live by it, some of those places West of downtown might be worth a craigslist seach. Also, I believe westsiderentals.com now services SD(?). It is huge in LA, and you can find everything.
