It was published in 1970, the TV series is from 1972. 

It's quite difficult to get inside picture of the books but it looks radically different from the TV series design.

I really wish someone would publish a translated version of this.

I've browsed "Survivant" many times, it seems to be a good apocalyptic / survival story.
I might get it someday then.
