I remember thinking Ramos was just some dick (although a dick with cool looking toys that I had never seen before) back then when he first came around KR talking shit on Dunies and everything, but I'm glad he did come around showing those toys and talking shit, it saved my life.

amen!

Heh heh...that link back to the old KR thread was where I started getting good info on Japanese gear. I had only seen it about in magazines and here and up till then. I pop up wih a few questions toward the end of the thread...but get ignored
That Hotrod guy didn't even acknowledge my compliment!!

Some of those names seem to be long gone too. Bugula used to do my head in and Julian was cool to talk with. He had a few Phantom suits.

Ramos' pics were what really got me started on SB. Especially the Hidden
Boss pic. I stared at that until I talked myself into buying. Still a big favourite.

Steve Agin was actually one of my drawing instructors at a community college in Morris County, New Jersey about 15 years ago. He was memorable- had a slightly intimidating demeanor and a straightforward approach- wasn't afraid to let you know if he didn't like something and give you an actual critique, unlike so many other art "teachers" I had. He also wasn't shy about letting me know his opinion that if I wasn't so freakin' high all the time, my work would probably cohere & improve more rapidly (he was right).
I liked him.

I don't know why he screams in his auction descriptions.

I actually bought my first SB from Ning's. They had a SDCC GF and for what ever reason I kept going back to the site to look at it. I was planing on getting out of the toy collecting game and then thought. "one more won't hurt". LOL. Then I found you guys on KR and about 2 weeks later Ramos fired up this site and for the first month or so I crept in the shadows to intimidated to say shit. Now it's home. (Sniff) Love you guys!

wow! that's cool! I've purchase several figures from steve and he's kept me on the phone for more than a few minutes! I like him as well and has does right by me and recently got me a GID blue skullwing which he could of easily sold for more on eBay.

i'm not a fan of his descriptions and I wish he would pay the extra $.035 to put pics up on the eBay gallery (search results)

Steve Agin's auction descriptions are brilliant. I'm a marketing professional and have written lots of copy over the years. Nothing like that I assure you, but then again I've never sold toys on eBay. My guess is he has honed that description systematically over hundreds of auctions and I'll bet it produces sales.

just checking because I started posting during SDCC, I wanna make sure through open post or pm that noone is lumping me in with this negatively viewed crowd. If so I'll leave your board alone, S7 has gotten my business before there was a board and it'll still get it. I dont post often in respect of a group of people that talk to each other through this forum regularly and dont necessarily want my contribution. Like I said just checking...

i definitely know what people are saying... I don't really think it has so much to do with new people coming along, but how some people project themselves when they get here. A gimme gimme attitude bundled with a billion questions that could have been answered with a simple search on here or posting almost exclusively in the BST area can really paint the picture that a person is here not so much to be part of a community rather to just score the toys. It sucks to deal with people with only one dimension. The real cool thing about a lot of the regulars of this board is that toys are only part of what they are as people. There's artists, musicians, javelin throwers, and more here.

So if you're a 'newb' stop and listen, use the search feature to answer questions, participate in some conversations, make some friends, you'll get to the toys soon enough.
