I couldn't help myself. That and PK's hot pink unchi figure. That was one steamin' pile of goodness. As far as Victim #3 is concerned, he was just too nice to not pounce on. I think I contacted the gallery in about 5 minutes.

Not sure if you're still looking for pictures from this show, but here they are: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jeremyriad ... 4060041082Mixed bag, IMO. Two years ago, I really felt like toys were this great medium for just about anyone to get into making. Now I kind of feel like we should all take a step back and re-evaluate what we want to see in a toy show (or art show). There's such a spectrum, and some of it's absolutely killer, and some of it's just...meh. For the latter, it's not like I hate it. It's just I think it needs room to grow.

Yeah, that Dragatomi sculpt is a joke, thank god for Dril and Lee to make that thing look halfway decent.

Re: Dragatomi's "Not Vinyl" Show!!!! May 8th 2010
the dragatomi owners are awesome because they do shows with artists that they like, regardless of rank, stature, and audience of that artist. this is very noble, but some more discernment would have made the show a bit cleaner and presentable. their customers are a mixed group of western fans and art collectors with a smattering of us kaiju folk. so i understand all of the cartoon-like resins in the show. while many of them are well executed, their mimicry of vinyl form is kind of boring to me.
jenny your inaction figures were pretty cool and the same dude that bought them also bought my Kong piece. were those resin or clay or something else?

The pieces in the show were resin (same with the Dragatomis). But all of my sculpts are originally done in aves apoxie.

It was good to meet many of you artists at the show opening. I was the guy videotaping and doing interviews... Here is a video I made with great show explainer that Leecifer gave: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6geeikhfG1wThere was a lot of fantastic and inspiring work there and I hope that Dragatomi will do another show like this in the future.
