 Re: Glitter Smoke Big Sal
big sal (the halloween release) was my first monster family pick up and the gateway drug that indoctrinated me into the super7 universe, so i'm probably not the most objective voice. with that said, this is shaping up to be my favorite big sal release. why? the sweet contrast between the clear(ish) glitter and black mask really works for me, plus i like the sinister vibe this one gives off vs. the "candyliciousness" of the previous drops.
i'd like to see some paint (besides the fade) on the buttons to the straight jacket/lab coat, but that's a minor gripe...i think only the halloween release has had that treatment thusfar.

 Re: Glitter Smoke Big Sal
Evom, before you get in a board war with a bunch of grumpy old men, people just prefer when you post, that you explain your thoughts. The "+1" post or "b-u-m-p" or anything like it annoys people that want to read the new posts with conversation in them, not just a one line answer. Just say "rad, it looks like it goes great with unpainted figures, and I am really excited about it" and you will be dandy. (as you did in your latter post.) Just a cultural difference from here to there. People want conversation, not one-liners. (unless of course your one-liners are really funny.)
Word up like Cameo.

 Re: Glitter Smoke Big Sal
I really like the attention the monster family has brought to s7 but there seems to be a lot of new people who have joined who tend to have these vapid and vaccant posts. It's constant and it's across the map..in the wanted threads and everywhere.. I'm not talking about new board members or newbies in general but it just bums me out...to have to wade through some of thecrap.
And a clarification..no one has to have profound posts all the time. It just seems like with the monster family stuff a huge wave of new fans came aboard. Anyway..Big sal is great..(Still prefer the first version.)
But bring on FIRE ROBO! +111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111

 Re: Glitter Smoke Big Sal
This news version of big sal is nice, no others good word to say for it. I not collect them then explain that. And when to speak for others things we have not lot of information ?
like : who chose the colors, the artist or you ? why you hide the number of copies produced ?
after it hard to say more for each new version as : "is great", "i want one", "really excited", ...

BFLV wrote: who chose the colors, the artist or you ? I'm interested in this as well. How much input does the original designer have into colors, whether its masked or free-sprayed, whether it's clear or opaque, etc? And is it different for the first edition of a figure than subsequent versions (I would think yes)? BFLV wrote: why you hide the number of copies produced ? This has been discussed in a bunch of threads many times before. To summarize: numbers are irrelevant; if you like the figure buy it, if you don't like the figure don't buy it; it feeds speculators who will buy it only to resell later at a hefty premium to someone who really wanted it in the first place. I do agree that there is something more attractive about a run of 50 than 5000 but if you're talking about the difference between 35 and 200 they're all pretty limited. I'm sure others can and will add on to this.

Lots of new members who I don't care for and are only interested in MF. Until they become less one dimensional and interesting, (doubtful), I'm going to follow Ed's example and implement my ignore button extensively.

The artist picks their colors, as it is their toy. For run numbers, that is a ploy to make you buy something because it is limited, not because you want it. We make toys. Hopefully you like our toys and you want to buy one. If you do not want to buy one, often people will buy something "limited" out of fear that they will "miss it", and then they are stuck with things that they bought for the wrong reason. We try to make enough so that everyone who wants one will get one. In some cases it takes time for production to catch up to demand, but it will even out. We want you to buy our toys because you like them, and not for any other reason. Does that make sense? for more information, please read my interview at Neon Monster as well. http://blog.neonmonster.com/gallery/the-hot-seat-with-super7s-brian-flynn/#more-1896/http://blog.neonmonster.com/gallery/the-hot-seat-with-super7s-brian-flynn-part-2/#more-1929

 Re: Glitter Smoke Big Sal
Brian,
Thanks for taking the time to clarify and help some of us new guys out. I mentioned in the S4 questionnaire that I would really like to learn more about the production process. Before I even knew about how all of the S7 pieces were made by hand I was intrigued and now the more I learn the more excited/interested I become about the cogs that make the machine run, and apparently I'm not the only one. Please keep posts like this coming : ]
...and to stay on topic, I really like the darker colorway of this. Especially with the lightblue accents. That really makes them pop. Big Sal doesn't really float my boat but I'd like to see darker colors like this on a few more releases.

Yes of couse but is always nice to know, after for some toys it's just impossible to buy it if you not live nearby the shop is SF. the quantities are so limited that it is impossible to buy one on the website. And must pass by just the flipper in ebay. I speak for myself because I am a true collector who loves you your toys, but who is unable to buy because production is so small.

 Re: Glitter Smoke Big Sal
BFLV - i'm the same being UK-based but TBH is that really the issue here? With every sculpt you know pretty much guaranteed there's gonna be a few colours versions, clears etc. I don't need to know run numbers and I don't care.
In fact i'd say it was the one thing that makes me appreciate these pieces even more. I'm gutted I missed the Skeletor version Mummy Boy but I have a few others and they still rule. It's the character I love not a specific paint app.
Seems there's more and more people trying to do an instant Pokemon and get every colour of a certain toy, now! Rose Vampires being the current flavour of the month. I have a couple, i'd like more but if I miss say the red, Outerspaced or Pink GID as I have already, i'm not going to pay over the odds for one because it's the sculpt that rules and I have a few examples of it already.
I do share your frustration with being so far away from the store etc but generally this place treats the real fans well and you can usually get a piece later on down the line.
Just my 2 pence/cents

No offense but it depends how collect. You're talking about missing certain toys because it seems like you are trying to be a completest on certain sculpts and that's very hard to do. A lot of people are really happy just buying 1 toy in one color, not every single variation, proto, ssss release etc.
