I was able to attend a special screening of Winter's Bone last night as part of the FLYOVER FILM FESTIVAL and also a fundraiser for a local charity. What a great movie! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this film.

BTW, I also found out that William Mapother (Ethan from Lost) is on the board for the Louisville Film Society and also has a house in Louisville. He was at the screening and it was cool meeting him.

The buzz on this thing is hotter than for any other American movie at the moment. Can't wait to see it.

There was a Q & A with Jennifer Lawrence after the screening that was very entertaining and informative.

She was also excited about her next film called the Beaver (Black comedy where Mel Gibson wears a puppet of a beaver on his hand and treats it as a real person. Jodi Foster co-stars and is also directing).

i caught this on its first night in chicago the other day after anticipating it since good words came out of sundance. hell of a film. i didn't always like the direction and could hardly believe it was shot in redcam but the performances top everything else. i get the frozen river comparisons but this has a lot more going on inside the world it creates. i appreciate the authenticity they aimed for. leave it to a film out in the middle of june to make the whole room feel like november in deep forest missouri.

antichrist probably spoiled my ideas of how the woods should be filmed though. what an unsettling movie.

Jennifer Lawrence >> Bone >> Beaver

I'm OK with this.
