AAA's technique in both sculpting and painting is great, but I don't like his characters... too weird for me. I could dig one of those Beans tho... the regular Chaos didn't do much for me. It's definitely a unique take, but it just seems a little bland for some reason.

Post Re: New RxH . . .
I got MO-01 from Mandarake today and I was hoping if anyone with some expertise on this figure and older RxH in general and tell me if this looks consistent with versions of this figure they have or have seen.

First the printing on the shirt is not completely solid. Looks almost pixelated in some places:
Image
Image

The white paint is not glossy at all. It's sort of gritty and it's not even in the eyes.
Image

And the printing on the feet is not consistent with all of the other RxH that I have or at least all of them I can recall.
Image

Is it possible that this is a fake? Or is it merely because this is Mori's first piece? I would not know better so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would assume it was a learning curve and the QC got better with later products. The Oni's weren't big sellers . . . I doubt they would be worth bootlegging.

these are four new finger puppet minis - slightly bigger than FCB's.
Each one is ATOM's take on a RXH character. Can you tell who is who???

That's funny... I just bought the same thing from Mandarake. The box arrived today, but it's still at the post office. Guess they had 2?

Well at last you know what to expect. Very cool figure I just was't sure about the finish. I've been told that is exactly how it's supposed to be and it is legit.

I just ordered MO-05 there yesterday and it looks beautiful. I'd never seen that one for sale on Mandarake before so I had to scoop it up.

I was just peeking that version in the Mook. That proto is very cool. If I could choose any version to get next it would be that 1 or the silver one (MO-06)

silver and clear red were the most difficult for me to find.

which version were you looking at in the mook? those two i posted aren't in the mook.

Oh crap you're right...I didn't notice the shirt was a different color so both of those are yours? and both are protos?
I was looking at the similar version with the Green Shirt.

I've never seen the clear red before.

How many other Oni's are there that aren't in the Mook?
How many Oni's were made before other sculpts started coming out?

I don't have the mook in front of me, but the GID was released after the mook came out. Mori had a lot of different protos of various colors, both opaque and clear, so it would be tough to say how many are actually out there.
Both of mine are protos, the one on the left was from Mori and the one on the right I found at Jyarinco the following day. :)

Very cool. The GID is the only 1 I know of that has been released since I started collecting RxH(2–3 years). Thanks for sharing that pic. I'd imagine stumbling into stuff like that on the net is pretty unlikely. I did pay significantly less on Mandarake than the same figure on Knunt.

There are only 6 Onis in the Mook. These 4, ME-01 and then the version like 1 with the maroon skin.
I just ordered the 1 on the far left yesterday from Mandarake.

This is Mutons pic that actually popped up when I googled Oni. Posted back in 2006 on here in an RxH collection thread that's buried somewhere.

Post Re: New RxH . . .
the one with maroon skin is the clear red. i think that was a painting/drawing version done by someone. without it in front of me, i couldn't tell you who did it :)

i paid through the nose on knunt for the clear red, but i had been looking for a while and a good friend saw it and grabbed it for me without pause. i'm very glad he did that (thanks tim!)

the others i picked up from various board members. the silver was the second toughest to find, but the protos have much more sentimental value than all of the others because of them being found in the wild so to speak.

I can see it now that it's clear...man that rules. I didn't know that. Pretty sure Josh did the paintings for all the RxH and yes it is that one that he painted. I can imagine how cool it was to find that one on accident and anything gifted is always meaningful. Thanks for all the info. I have a pretty diverse taste in vinyl but RxH is my absolute favorite Eastern. There are a couple old Evils that I would love to score. I bet if I had the money I could coax em out of the shadows but alas I do not. But like you said...stumbling onto some treasures though it might not be in person is always cool.

Cool pics and background on the old Onis... I'd love to pick up the 01 Oni myself someday, just to have one definitive Oni.

I hadn't realized until the other day when I was looking at the Mook myself that the Oni's shirt says Real Head Not Dead. I always assumed that acronym debuted on the RHND mini set as a statement of the times. What's the story behind that phrase then? Seems odd for the first Real X Head toy to say it.

I think a few of the shirts have different backs to them. I'll take some photos this week.

I'll take a wild guess but Id imagine its something along the lines of Punks not Dead but I could be totally wrong, if anyone knows otherwise chime in.
