Post Where the hell did "Heighth" get into people's vocabulary?
I was learning Sketchbook Pro through Lynda.com and heard the tutor say "Heighth" instead of "Height"
I repeated the video a few times to check if I heard wrong but searching on the Internets found some interesting links.
What baffles me is that this tutor is working as a design consultant and illustrator.

I'd like to know when people started saying "Internets."

When people over 50 learned about the internet.
"They've all got those internets going on over there with their myface and interweb mailings i just don't get it!"

I thought that started with Bush? Or did he popularise it?

And when did Northern California become NorCal?

I always thought NorCal was a garbage company in SF.

I think "heighth" is actually a word it's just really old.
I've heard it a lot in technical realms...like construction.
It's still annoying.

Wrong! Not really Charles Dickens :(

I say "interwebs" a lot, too, for pretty much the same reason. I also know that it annoys some people which makes saying it so much fun.

No, uh oh is right, it's an old way of saying "height." Just like when you're referring to how broad something is, you can say "breadth." Why one survived over the years and not the other, who knows.

Urban dictionary isn't a real dictionary, either. Anyone can submit their own words:

Just don't call it "Cali" please.

I guess saying "interwebs" with irony is cool, but I despise the uber-geeks who insist that it's more "accurate" than "internet."

I'm going to start referring to my "word processor" for irony. :D
