Asking for more estrogen on a toy msgboard is like asking for a Minor Threat reunion. It's not happening. I'm bringing massive estrogen. Get ready!

I think some of those ladies have more testosterone than estrogen. And thankfully, the NJ ladies I know are nothing like those ladies! Glad I'm finally seeing you here!

That's too bad she hasn't been received well on this board, though I guess her work is not really on topic here I suppose. I'm a married man, but this board sure could use a dose of estrogen. Wolfchild is having to really bring it! what does she need to confirm? that everyone who took this seriously can't figure out sarcasm when they see it? I don't think she cares what people here think. As connell mentioned, everyone was rude to her when she joined here and she was really nice to everyone in her posts. if there were more girls posting here, would people here be less misogynistic about women? doubtful. do the math, girls aren't going to come running to this sausage fest. I kind of laughed when I saw people were "offended" by her use of the word. I get offended about discrimination. I get offended by the lack of action from BP in their oil spill. Offended about a word being used tongue in cheek?

Re: New Amanda Visell "kaiju" Figure
I don't think anyone here is genuinely offended, it's just sort of strange when words like "kaiju" are applied to things that aren't kaiju-related at all. Whether the reference was tongue-in-cheek or not, the word was associated by Visell with her resin figure.
For those of you who are wondering why there aren't many girls around here, you need to face some facts: most girls don't collect toys, and the ones that do tend not to dig toys of monsters and robots and wrestlers, and monster robot wrestlers, and that's what this site is about.
And who knows, maybe that's what's she's trying to say by making a $200 resin figure of something (a little girl in a dress) that would have no appeal to boys or even scare them off (like a real kaiju). But to me, toys aren't something to be figured out.
As far as I'm concerned, toys are straightforward and up front, they appeal to the kid in you or they don't. The four year old in you gives it a pass or fail grade and that's it, and the adult in you (the one that holds the wallet) approves by buying it.

I just read every thread she participated in and with two or three exceptions, many people were friendly and encouraging when she posted: search.php?author_id=15819&sr=postsI'd say she got the same treatment anyone does around here when they're showing off new work, whether they're established artists or not.

If the monorobolucha appeals to the little girl in me, it's all mine. There are monoroboluchas that I like, which is why I'm here.

But the girls that do collect toys and drag their husbands to Super 7 shows and have to name all the different toys for them cuz the only monster they recognize is Godzilla are just that much cooler. Right?

Right? Eh, depends. If a girl collects monster toys, that one thing doesn't automatically make her cool.

Before this thread gets totally derailed, I'm reminded of a discussion that we've been having at Toybox that's tangentially related. http://toyboxdx.com/phorum/read.php?5,218046And on the topic of Amanda Visell's resin figure, her Skullbrain account is active, it would be cool if she'd like to come back and comment.

I don't think we have to worry about the lack of estrogen around here. There's a number of the male species on SB that continue to pick up the slack in that department.

I like it but I don't collect resin or American much these days. I agree it seems somewhat subdued from her other work. I like how the collar could be interpretated as fangs and how the dress looks like it has scales. Probably not the intention of the artist, but that's what I see.
