Wow, after spending more time today thinking this over, I'm still bummed about this. If Nate Young wants to hate on Rich then that's Nates prerogative, but to take away such an awesome toy from any of the collectors/community, well that's just down right selfish. Is that what this was about?

I'd imagine Rich could gain more from this than Nate may have anticipated, but for all the rest of us who genuinely enjoy MVH toys and know just how hard it's been to obtain them, that's pretty cruel to destroy it.

So has the incinerated been identified? I have an idea of which ones it's not...

Nate young is not this persons real name. So I definitely don't want some board members to think I thought of them, especially Nate and Maddie. If you google Nate Young and read the wiki you might get the joke or statement he was trying to make.

This person is a board member though and has more than likely read this thread.

I have the opposite opinion (probably the minority). As an artist, I'd be flattered if someone went out of their way to buy my work, then destroy it, and mail it back to be. Also, Rich it is cool to hear your reaction as somewhat indifferent. A true artist doesn't care what other people think about his/her work; you do it because you love it. (And as the Buddhist sand art takes hours and days to create, in the end it is blow away in the wind.)

just think about people who don't have bucks to buy rich stuff....

i spent time last night discussing it as well and as much as i'd like to think of it as some dumbass
form of artistic expression, i am of the mind that this shit is just creepy and disturbing. had this
happened to me, i probably would have informed the authorities. in the end i'm more saddened
by the lose of an amazing piece of artwork, but i guess rich got paid for it, so we kinda just have to
deal with it.

In all honesty this has been really inspiring to me . I've been sculpting again and I'm having issues finding just the right texture to use. Not to mention give the sculpt a deeper meaning than just because I thought it looked cool. Then this came in and BAM !

Its Sludge Demon stage 2 !! ... the Sludgie was to set a fire and then hardened and now has came back as something new. He is all chard and hard as a rock on the outside, but the inside is still oozing and boiling and trying to flow out from any orifice it can escape from .... he leaves a trail of flaming lava like tar in his wake !

Rich... you're right. This a truly inspired way to approach this whole incident. It's like the mythological tale of the Phoenix rising out of the ashes to re-create its self, to begin a-new. Did you know, according to the writings of the Roman poet Ovid that one of the main sources of sustenance for the Phoenix was odoriferous gums (a blackened ball of melted vinyl?) Out of the ashes of one toy a new one is born. The Japanese word for the Phoenix is Hoo-oo. Maybe you should call the new toy Hoo-oogon. Keeping your focus on the positive that can come out of this can't be wrong.

I'm digging the new sculpt much more than I admittedly do the Sludge Demon, and glad that you're in the swing, but the burnt up package is fucked up. I don't think it's really a cool thing for a designer, but just a sign that there's something wrong with this person.

After looking I'm assuming this is the meaning....

Basically Nate young is a member in a religious group. This is a Demon etc you can figure out the rest ... he also has a tattoo on his lower lip Saying " May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be pleasing to the Lord" So maybe this is his was to say that he did this to make everyone happy ... who knows... again the person who did this would have to write and explain the real reason for doing it. It could be as simple as they hated it and wanted to do it just to see it burn.

In any case the person went out other their way to be anonymous, no notes, fake name and address etc... They did however forget to buy postage but went to and electronic postage both so the real state is right on the postage along with a bar code that has all the info from the transaction ... hahah fail.

Now,if for some reason anyone thinks this toy is some demonic creation its really not. Its just a toy with a classic yokai monster influence. I just really like all those old Japanese folk lore tales. Monsters had simple names associated with what they came from. I wanted a sludge monster and really kept its simple, its a monster that came from sludge ... okay its a sludge demon ... simple. I could have named it poopy monster but that wouldn't have had that nice ring to it

I just really like this period on monsters. No hidden meanings no satanic preachings just plan ol monsters that I wanted to see made.

My Ollie the cyclops monster is also a oni but is my good guy or hero type character. And you cant have a good guy with out the bad guy. So I wanted to make a bad guy at the same time. Its just so happened that the Sludgie was made first, its just a simple design and production was a breeze.

In the end its just toys with no religious meanings. They are just names that I though of at the time again no hidden meanings, I'm not that deep haha.

I'm sure you all know this but just wanted to throw it out there.

I'm calling bullshit on this one. There is no way that tattoo would fit on a lip and still be legible.
