 Re: NYCC
The couple of times i've been to NYCC it's been pretty lame - thankfully there were some great parties in the evenings to make it worthwhile going. Or perhaps it was because of those parties (and the weak ass toys on show) that the days were so very painful So if there's parties i'll be tempted to go again seeing as plane tickets should be cheap (er) that time of year.

I can't wait to go this year, I'm just a tad bummed that they threw Anime Festival NY in with it and it's all one big con now, but oh well. It'll be fun to go and see all the exclusives that'll be there; I've heard about lots of people that'll be there and it's sounding like it'll be on par with SDCC exclusives wise. I can also head back to the Javits Center again! I haven't been there since Toy Fair back in the beginning of this year, so it'll be awesome to be back there. Dude, Anime festivals are pretty awesome as far as fandom and costumes are concerned. Those folks are serious about dressing up! Oh, I meant I was bummed it wasn't 2 separate conventions. I go to Otakon every year and have been going for the last like 5-6 years now and I went to NY Anime Festival last year. I like keeping my anime and comics separate so that I get to go to more conventions! I didn't consider it that way, but your right. Hopefully it won't condense either one by joining them too.

 Re: NYCC
Look for hotels in Brooklyn. You'll have to commute on the subway about 30 minutes there and back each day, but hotels are usually about $150 a night or so over there and the hotels are all regular nice hotels. Also, from what I heard, Anime Festival NY will be condensed a bit since there's so much Comic Con stuff, which kind of sucks. It's like they're trying to phase out Anime Festival NY at the point where it finally became a legitimate con of its own.

 Re: NYCC
We might stay at a place in Flushing that we've been to before. It's a pain commuting in, but seriously..it's so pricey right now. I'm thinking it's because the summer promos are going on now and the fall stuff hasn't hit yet.

 Re: NYCC
Still on the fence if I should drive in daily. Would like to know what night the Mishka boys are gonna have an event, that night I may stay in the city.
I wonder if enough of us want a hotel maybe we could contact one and see if we could set up some sort of group deal ?

 Re: NYCC
For hotels in NYC (or any other US city), I'd recommend using Priceline (the "name your price" feature) and performing a search in Brooklyn or Queens. It's possible to get a 3.0-3.5 star hotel for $100-$125 or so. Only drawback is you have to take the hotel they give you, but once you're familiar with the site you can pretty much figure out it will be one of 3 or 4 possibilities. If you stick with the 3.0-3.5 range, it's usually fine. Go below that and all bets are off.
Oh, and if you're going to be in the city a week (or even 4-5 days), get a week-long Metrocard. Only costs $27 (if I remember correctly) and is good for subway and buses.
