 Re: DINOS! DINOS DINOS!
I never thought I'd have anything to post in the vintage section, but I love this thread. I don't have any vintage dinos of my own(yet), but looking through all of these pictures makes me really happy.

 Re: DINOS! DINOS DINOS!
A paint variation of the Daikyou Scolosaurus. I was a little concerned that it might be painted over / customized (having never seen one in these colors), but the paint seems to be original. I fell in love with this toy after seeing it in VV's photos (the other paint version, earlier in this thread). Very happy to have found this one in good condition.

 Re: DINOS! DINOS DINOS!
damn akum, that thing is pure candy ! you definately got the best version. after i saw yours, i went to check mine, and i bit perplexed that you called it by what sounded like a dinosaur name. i was leaving the room, when i looked up, and saw its twin. never put it together that it really was a dino untill that moment.

 Re: DINOS! DINOS DINOS!
Couple of Marushin dinos that don't come up very often... Tarbosaurus, standard size. Looks suspiciously similar to Marushin's standard T-Rex, but the colors are prettier. Edaphosaurus. Another sculpt of this one that ends up looking more like Dimetrodon (Edaphosaurus has a shorter skull, less crocodilian). I wonder if someone in Japan messed this up initially and everyone just followed suit. This is a smaller vinyl with only one point of articulation- a diagonal cut slightly behind the forelegs. One of the most beautiful, intricate dinosaur vinyls that I have handled.

 Re: DINOS! DINOS DINOS!
Wow! These two are very interesting. I've never seen them before. Edapho might be more intricate but I'm going with Tarbo. The colours are beautiful and it reminds me of why they thought of birds and dinos being related in the first place. He has this grin that I find very appealing. Yes, he looks like a slim, vegetarian, rehabilitated cousin of T-Rex.

 Re: DINOS! DINOS DINOS!
The name of the production company is "Hearty Robin." That sounds familiar... think they may have produced some low-end plastic and die-cast toys as well.

 Re: DINOS! DINOS DINOS!
Thanks Daniel! I wonder if the Mammoth came separately or if they just 86'd it from the set?

 Re: DINOS! DINOS DINOS!
Recently picked up this nice little set. They are unmarked and max out at 6cm tall and 7cm long. Lots of nice metallic spray and decent detail.

 Re: DINOS! DINOS DINOS!
I missed out on those marusan unpainted dinos. Can anyone recall the price on these? The One Million Years BC Brontosaurus in particular. How similar were these to the Bullmarks or the original Marusans? Same size?

akum6n wrote: Not vinyl, but may be of interest to dinosaur enthusiasts. These are hard plastic dinosaur models made by a company called Invicta Plastics located in Leicester, England, working in conjunction with the British Museum. They were produced over a span of about 15 years, during the late 70s and throughout the 80s. Mostly sold through museum gift shops and the like. I believe they are considered the first mass-produced, "scientifically-accurate" models/toys of dinosaurs. I had nearly the entire set of prehistoric creatures made by Invicta, except for the whale and maybe one other. Not pictured are the Pteranodon, Elasmosaurus and Ichthyosaurus- as well as a T-Rex, Stegosaurus and Troodon, which I could not find (probably packed in a box in the attic). But it brought back a lot of nice memories to pull these out and photograph them. EDIT: I just checked and I am actually missing a bunch in the above shots. Man, where did they all go? I bought a couple of these when I was around 5 years old. I have the brown crocadilian looking guy in your picture, plus a beaver/ armadillo looking prehistoric mammal. Should dig them and all my old dinos out of the attic for a photo shoot.
