But, well, tons of money comes his way... Considering Kaws designed all his popular lines. It makes sense.

I have some of the original t shirts before he had his own label it was still bathing ape but mostly printed on hanes beefy t's. I have one with a bathing ape wants you to go ape printed on the front with the general out of planet of the apes. I did lose interest in bape when all this soldier boy crap came out last year the fakes increased . another impossible clothing make to acquire unless you live in Japan is nitraid if anyone has heard of it.

Sk8thing did all the early mid-BAPE era designs for Nigo and thats when they really took off - sure there were the KAWS hoodies and tees but they didn't last long (one season?) as soon as KAWS realised he could make a mint on his own he went off and started OF. BAPE tee quality is generally pretty shit these days.

 Re: KAWS Pinocchio
KAWS designed 3 seasons for BAPE. The Tweety bird looks like an older sculpt, reminds me of the KAWS Astro Boys that never came out (13 from a BAPE Gallery show in '03 I believe + a smaller prototype http://www.flickr.com/photos/true2death/262746389/) but then again it is also similar to his Pipo Kuns. His work originally was a comment on commercialism whatever blah blah, he has said so in interviews but yeah now it has lost all of it's meaning yet it is still aesthetically pleasing none the less. all of his toys that are other people's characters are at least done in his style, not just x eyes & cross bones but redrawn in his style & sculpted accordingly, darth vader & storm troopers for example, that's not just putting x eyes on something and calling it his own. If that's not original then neither is the new Super 7 storm trooper. also, most of his stuff retails around $100 when it 1st comes out which isn't unforgivable. how much is a new bemon, or a nagx3? the dos equis thing is pretty lame though. I don't need arty beer.

As far as I'm concerned, and maybe I speaking as someone from the states, but the way I see it is there is Pre-Kaws bape and post. If were talking years I'd say late 2004/2005/2006. Kaws' name/designs let Bape really make that crossover for the US hip hop guys. Whether that is a good or bad thing, I feel that's what happened. Especially when Mike D wore the Kaws/Bape jacket at the Hip Honors award in 2006. Obviously Bape was nothing new but it was those years where it went from a still semi "underground" thing to being on the back of every single person I saw on the streets of DC. Aside from the trademark camo, all I saw being worn and sold(bootlegs a plenty) were the Kaws designs. Just an observation. Maybe that was just east coast/states/whatever.

Whats next a dissected version with termites crawling around inside the head or some shit..
I'm board of everything getting the Kaws treatment. I still wish I had bought the Chums when they first came out, along with the 5YL's and even the Twins sets I like, but its just stale and boring now..

 Re: KAWS Pinocchio
still on the fence about this one, we'll see what ends up happening if the pre-order comes back up. will this be released like the vader and stormtrooper?
