A few replies...

I think everyone understands.
The complaint is it opens things up for the rules to be bent- new members to be confused- and generally annoy people.

That's the only rebuttal that sounded like thought out criticism. Thanks. And I see your point. Which is why I advocate a non-specific single line like il_muffino was saying.

If they understand, then why have some said "I mean...if I'm interested in basketball..I'm not going to go on a mlb forum and start talking about other stuff." and "Yes, there are other places to go and get Western stuff.", etc.? Even in context, those statements in no way address what the original poster was suggesting.

Indeed.

You're also overlooking that this has already been done. I can't say that it's a regular thing, but I know I've seen it. I don't recall any of the naysayers from this thread (or anyone for that matter) speaking up when it happened, either.

I've done it, never got any comments about it, but would have liked others to do it as well for the reasons I mentioned above.

The For Sale Forum here is for stuff related to Skullbrain. Not for things that you can't even type the name of.
Well aware that it does happen. Sometimes people say something. Sometimes they just ignore it. But since we were asked. We are giving our opinion. If this starts happening, be prepared to take some flack I guess.

I indeed asked for opinions, and am glad some had reasoning behind them. The twisted and disingenuous ones come with all forums I guess. Without starting the über debate again, the differences between RV, Mummy Boys or most MF figures and Western vinyl out there today are purely academic. So I'd appreciate if people cut it out with the "Next what? Selling Christmas sweaters on sb?" nonsense. It's more akin to selling Hollywood DVDs and saying you also have some Asian films for sale... People might well also be interested!

This is a forum for jp vinyl. This place isn't a one shop place for all toys..it's for JP vinyl. I have nothing against western vinyl or kr...but I'd prefer that this board stay with it's original vision. Some of the people on here that I consider friends collect Western Vinyl stuff but I always liked that they keep it separate.

I agree, and again, I'm suggesting a one-line addition that doesn't actually name anything, make it in tiny font (like I did in my sale thread) and where's the problem? Didn't think I was actually recommending life-changing modifications here...

I always wanted to know where the line is drawn between Western and JP vinyl, because Le Merde, to me, is NOT JP vinyl, yet no one seems to have a problem with people discussing/selling/displaying it.

I think the standard answer to this is that it's made in Japan. This makes as much sense to me as BB being ok and not the other platforms.

Some of the most interesting things come up here, but are not JP VINYL ONLY. I mean, look at the Predator prototypes a few threads down. Pretty damn cool. Do they "fit" with SB? I don't think so. But it's nice to see them here.

I thought it was fine because it was Roger but any Fresh Meat would have been slagged... Or then it falls in the obscure arcana of acceptability only understandable to people who have been on the board for 5 years.

petitetoilonrouge You seem to be a pretty thoughtful guy. I'm having a hard time understanding your need to keep pushing this. It has been suggested by Brian in his list of "unwritten" rules for SB that we do the following...

2. There are reasons we don’t talk about certain subjects, and there are other places to yap about that stuff. Head there for that kind of talk, don’t try and bring it here.

No matter how you word your "modest proposal" the bottom line is that you want to be able to sell western toys on SB. It is Brian's, and I would say the majority of the other members of SB's, request that you "don't try and bring it here."
Seems fairly simple to me.

I actually want to be able to *buy* Western toys from people I buy Eastern toys from. It was not my intention to try and subvert anything or even to bring the discussion of Western toys here, but whatever, if it feels I'm pushing it too much, subject dropped, moving on...

You can, just not on this board. Try http://www.lulubelltoys.com

you keep saying this, but as connell has pointed out, that this simply is not the case here. brian and s7 have set up this separate board for a reason, and no matter what your interpretation of "platform" toys may be, this is not the place for it.

if you're comfortable with it, maybe you can ask the seller if they have other items for sale/trade in private messages as has been suggested earlier. that sounds like the best solution.
