i guess now we know why they were still around. that's terrible to hear, roger. maybe you can fill it with a light-weight resin and turn it into a statue? you can't be done with toys forever?

Got the Gentle Giant Stormtrooper and it's a disappointment. It does not have the same construction as the Kenner toy (styrene body halves and solid vinyl limbs), the entire thing is rigid but hollow vinyl with a matte finish that doesn't match the shine of the original figure. You can hold it up to the light and see through it. It's like a weird bootleg.

The detail on the figure is soft, apparently they didn't do any cleanup on the design after they scanned it and scaled it up. The figure doesn't hold the rifle well, either. You just put it in the hand and it just sort of flops there.

And best of all, mine broke twenty minutes out of the box. It was just standing on my desk and fell over while I reached for something. The left hand popped out of the socket. Apparently it was glued in there.

I'm not getting any more of these. Whoever wants mine can have it for $100 shipped (via USPS plus Delivery Confirmation within the US). I'll even throw in a tube of super glue to fix the hand. Send me a PM.

DONE WITH TOYS.

You were warned!

Not noticed a price but it looks like shit! 3D scanning the original version means it's lost all definition and all the angled armor is kinda blobby and lame.

Thanks for the info Roger. I'll spend that money on vintage 12"ers (which I've been doing anyway!)

That's what you get for taking it out of the packaging, TOY-DEFILER!! You should slab it, then freeze it in a block of carbonite.

CAT-AT

It's a big beautiful bastard but it's kind of rickety. The feet/leg rods are constantly popping out, but overall great. It was 10$ off this weekend at ToysRUs

Reviving this thread from the depths!

I just completed the first wave of the vintage collection today at wal-mart, and boy, I fucking love these little dudes, now for all of the vehicles .

Does anyone know what is the most accurate newer sculpt of Luke that will go with the snowspeeder? I'm thinking of getting the legacy collection one..

Whoa! I remember these! Micro Machines were the best. I had the Endor one and a bunch of those heads that turn into playsets.... action fleet was cool too

MicroMachines were awesome. I had the Slave 1, which was all plastic, but still a nice sculpt.
I broke down and got the new Snowspeeder. I think I'm going to order one made of Swarovski crystal, the sharp angles, nice detailing, above all others the Snowspeeder was built to fly like a bat out of hell. Always sort of reminded me of 80s compact sports car, like a Mazda RX-7. Now more than ever.

Why are you guys chasing all this new stuff? Does that mean you have a complete vintage collection? "I will collect new star wars just as soon as I finish collecting old sw..." I was buying on the bay until I got spooked about counterfeits... any reputable places for vintage ??

It's the best out of the ones I've seen. In the new toy catalogue that came with the at-at there is a pic of a new hoth Luke next the vintage legacy collection, so either it's not out or it's a pic of the one from the link that came out last year

I couldn't care less about most of the star wars stuff old or new, but sometimes one toy hits the sweet spot (like that friggin' giant AT AT) and I gotta go throw some money at it.

At least my girlfriend enjoying making fun of me while I was assembling it.

Well after going to the Star Wars Celebration V in Orlando, I have had Star Wars on the brain. So I dug the original 12" line figures that I had out of storage for a photo shoot..

had some digs and scuffs. Also a bit of glue discoloration on the seams, but over all in good shape. I got him years ago at a local comic shop. The Vader I got from a box of toys that was in the attic of a friend of my mom.. Think I gave her $10*

Ugh, sweet deal! That collection is awesome, I love the 12" series from back when.

wow those classic 12" are way better than the gentle giant ones!

I was dead set on trying to get that stormtrooper, but after seeing what was posted here I'm glad I didn't jump on it!

R2D2 has aged well, I like how the plastic sort of turned so slightly yellowish

Post Re: The Star Wars Toy Thread.
R2D2 never goes out of style. Ever read that weird Star Wars conspiracy theory where R2D2 is basically God? But I digress...

Yeah, Ive got ST on the brain. Each new line is like updating software. But in each new line, there are usually some repacks from previous lines (w/ the general omission of the muscular Power of the Force figs). That Gentle Giant trooper... I still say it's a cheap shot at copying S7's Shogun Trooper. I came verrry close to buying that f'ing Boba Fett helmet. Sure, I don't have a girlfriend now, but when I do, that thing is really going to have to be hidden far away. But it's so f'ing cool. Regarding Luke Hoth figs, get the last Legend Saga Luke in his pilot garb, comes with a harpoon gun for hitching a ride on the nearest AT-AT.

I'm sad to see the Micromachines Titanium line come to an end, but they did so with quite a bang. The Nebulon frigate and the Outrider are just dope. A few in the series are duds, but most are really sharp little sculpts. I'm still trying to wrap my head around that Galactic Heros line. Semi-anime style super deformed non-poseable figures. The AT-AT however is a cool $50 cheaper than the full-blown AT-AT, and proportionally is kinda cool. For the small figs, I picked up the Spider Droid.

One thing I've been drooling about for a while are Marusans old 12" figures. Some of those are outstanding. Prices vary. The American 12" figs (not sure who produced them) are kinda cool, but I don't want to fill my apt with them. The Admiral Ackbar matches the sofa, couch, and whole decor of any room. He's all class.

Picked up the fett helmet and of course the fett blaster. My wife rules so they are displayed with pride in the livingroom when not being wore by myself as a hunt our uglycute cat.
