 Re: mold a rama run
I got the green alligator. It had been in the sun in my mailbox for awhile. When I took it out of the box it was warm and smelled like it was freshly made!
I used to get those in Florida every family vacation...and maybe a fake corn cob pipe too..!
Anyways, thank you so much.

Went to Brookfield zoo today, and this was the bald eagle machine. Guess I will get that one next time.

 Re: mold a rama run
^ i would love to get that lumpy disaster of plastic anyway! industrial mishaps are so beautiful does brookfield zoo still have the pink aardvark? that's one of my favorites, but i don't see it in the bewildering photo of the mold-a-rama army.

 Re: mold a rama run
no pink aardvark and you have no idea how bad I wanted to plug it in and stick two dollars in it.
You would be surprised how many people think they are made of wax.

 Re: mold a rama run
Looks like I will be hitting up the Miami Seaquarium on my day off tomorrow, and picking up some Mold-a-Rama items. I will be willing to pick up a few extras if people want. Only thing is you have to tell me before 8am tomorrow morning. Here is the list of items they have:
Beluga Whale (Red) Small Dolphin (Dark Blue) Killer Whale (Black) Manatee (Grey) Shark (Orange) Sailfish (Green) Sea Lion (Black) Seahorse (Purple)
Please send me a PM with your wish list. This is first come first serve, If the list gets to long I will cut it off. I'm not fronting tons of cash. Also I will be willing to do trades on other Mold-a-Rama items. Fingers crossed all the machines are working.

 Re: mold a rama run
Well it's 8:10am.. I have 3 orders for items, I will post later today what I scored with photos. I will also snap some photos of the machines. Next time I'm heading to a Mold location I hope to give more of a heads-up.

 Re: mold a rama run
Well I'm back from my Mold-a-Rama run.. Some things did happen during this little trip. First thing was the blue dolphin broke right after we made the 1st one! My girl was pulling the dolphin out from the machine and we heard a loud bang, it was the left side of the mold! It came off its arm and landed at the bottom of the machine. So we could only score one of them and it came out half ass. The other thing is I'm guessing its the mold release or the Florida weather but some of the molds came out a bit strange. seems like the more the molds got used the better the product came out. This was a very slow day at the park and I am very sure I was the only person using the machines. Well here are some pics of the scores and machines, you can see more on my Flickr.

 Re: mold a rama run
I love the weird "multi grey" manatee. I know it's 1 of those odd machine mistakes but it looks great IMO. The seahorse looks great in black too.
I hope these mold-a-rama runs continue on with lots of fun new finds, and people grabbing them for board members.

 Re: mold a rama run
The photo is a bit dark but the seahorse is purple. One more place near my house has 2 more molds, I will let members know when I go.

 Re: mold a rama run
if you get bad molds or a machine is down they usually have a box of them at the main gift shop or customer relations office, I have snagged a few I would not have been able to get otherwise

Glad that Rotofugi is doing it. Just about every artist that I know has talked about trying to do this.

 Re: mold a rama run
the georgia molds at the mini car museum are only brought out on special occasions from what I have read, but I plan on getting at them at some point as one of there molds is Steve Urkles car, the tiny one that opens from the front

 Re: mold a rama run
I've never seen these before, what's their story? Are they the plastic equivalent of the memento-penny squashers they have at rest stops?

 Re: mold a rama run
So they're plastic molding machines that make your figure on the spot? That sounds like an awesome idea... who designs the figures? The venue?

 Re: mold a rama run
they are awesome, and they are exactly what you'd imagine magic would be like in person. more mold-a-rama info than you ever wanted to knowmaybe you customizers take a stab at these critters, yes? cheap and easy blanks, no "limited" numbers to worry about.
