Re: Favorite Video games of All Time Thread!
if we're talking about arcade games, it's a split between 720 and 4-player gauntlet.

Re: Favorite Video games of All Time Thread!
OOh. Ikari Warriors. Nice! A: There was two versions the two button one (which is the only one I've played) and the rare six button one (only played on emulator). The strength of the attack was determined by the length of time you held the attack Button down. Capcom vs SNK for the Neo-Geo Pocket Color, adopted a similar style (excluding medium strength). Special attacks were pretty hard to do on command (no matter how much you practiced), and you usually would start a hadouken from BD (back-down) to get the best results. Hard as hell to do, but when you connected with them those people bled about two-thirds of their life. The game was actually fairly easy once you got the hadouken down. But once you get to Thailand and fight Adon and especially Sagat, that game becomes the devil! Ken was also only selectable by putting in a quarter for second player and beating the first player in combat.

gatchabert wrote: here's a little trivia question: how many buttons did the first Street Fighter have and how did you do the hard to fierce attacks? Oh man, this brings back memories! They had the two button, pressure sensitive cabinet at my local arcade. It had these HUGE buttons covered in soft rubber, and to perform a fierce attack you had to bash those things as hard as you could. Being an 8 year old kid at the time, I'd have to recruit a few friends in an attempt to play the game, one to manage the controls and one kid for each button. While one of us desperately tried to pull off some quarter circles, the other two would be maniacally pounding on the buttons with both fists. Needless to say, we were not the most skilled Street Fighter players in the arcade. I do remember playing the 6 button version at a different arcade and being just as bad. I think I could get to the second character, the ninja...

Arcades were so awesome GI Joe and X-Men were some of my favorites in the arcade, along with the original TMNT. Anything 4-6 players was the best. Pinball is my true passion now, try all you want, you will never get the feel for a pinball machine at home.

Nah, I would do the the same thing with MAME but with unlimited coins it's a matter of beating it before you get bored. I haven't been to D&B in almost 8 years, I went to one in Florida, I keep meaning to go, but there is usually something else going on.

this was probably one of the best looking games of it's time. I totally sucked at it, managing to get to the 3rd stage and not any further but it looked fantastic. this link runs the music in the background. great video game music just adds to the game's overall experience. http://www.arcade-history.com/?n=darius&page=detail&id=585

I'm sure EVERYone has played Bust a Move at least once in their lives. Pang is another fun one I remember. I'm not sure if anyone's played Snow Bros. It's pretty much Bubble Bobble, but I liked it more.

I haven't been to Avalon in ages, but from what I remember you pay $5 to get in, there are a bunch of free games, a bunch more nickel games, and then some quarter and dollar games. And Ground Kontrol has beer and no entry fee, and most games are a quarter.

Don't forget about Dungeons and Dragons or Shadow Warriors (Co-op Ninja Gaiden). Two of my favorite Side Scrolling Beat-Em Ups.

Did you ever play Darius Gaiden on Saturn or PSX (don't know if it came out on PSX). Darius is one of the best side scrolling shooters.

The console version just didn't compare to the arcade. You gotta click on the link, even if it's just to hear the music.

Anyone ever get down on Heart of Darkness for ps1? It was extremely hard, a very smart puzzle game with the same graphics techniques as FFVII I believe.
