Post Display Case Lighting Quandary
I’m on the verge of finally being able to use my long, glass display case and now find myself in a bit of a quandary – how to light it?

The case in question is an antique wood and glass retail affair, measuring 72” x 24” x 42”. The bulk of the proposed contents will be vinyl toys.

The face and top of the case are glass, with no joint where they come together, so any lighting solution I use to shine down upon the shelving will be visible.

The obvious solution is a 70” spring bar wedged into the upper corner where the two panes meet – but for what kind of lights? I dislike the cold, dullness of fluorescents but fear the excess heat and UV output of tungsten halogens. UV can't be good for sofubi.

Has anyone any other solutions or suggestions?

You can find fluorescents in many different kelvin temps to vary the color of light. We have to use day light at work for color correction.

fluorescents are apparently turrible bad for plastics - too much UV output.

Yikes!

You could try some candles or maybe lightning bugs in a jar!

I just realized that, as such a healthy portion of my collection is glowie, I won't be needing lighting.

Thank you and good day.
