i guess if i dont like all the same things as other people im not conformist enough to share. or i just suck at collecting. i never said it could remotely be confused with usugrow and thats why I used the word wannabe. if i cant spend 1,000s of dollars on toys i should be silenced right.
wow this place is so hardcore i should punch myself in the tits.

Hahahah, nah, just stick to your guns and collect what you like. I'm not crazy about the hands on this figure but you could definitely do a lot worse. :-)

You come up with this because of a little comment by bryce that didn't even sound anything like what I'm sure at least 90% of everyone else was thinking :?

I made no comment about what you collect..or stated you were not 'cool' or that you should punch yourself. You don't have to collect 1000 dollars of toys or be silenced. And I'm not sure what you are referring to as "hardcore"? I really don't understand those statements.

I was laughing at the fact that anyone would confuse those with secret base usugrow toys. They look nothing like usugrow's art.

not at all. the pokes and stabs here are insane to me. this is toys not priceless maltese falcons so why the negativity most of the time. a simple meh or sucks could have got the same meaning across. but to put words in my mouth and be negative is pointless really. why comment at all is my issue. im the newbie so no matter what i am sure i am in the wrong by general consensus.

Wow, you have some seriously thin skin. I don't get anything you referenced out of Bryces statement, nor did I find it rude in the first place. We all collect at least one toy that plenty of other members wouldn't like. If people around here have something to say they usually do so, it's nothing personal. Price and hype mean nothing to most people, I think it was more a comment on the aesthetic which does differ substantially from Usugrow's.

bryce made a comment, and a rather blunt one at that.

he didn't say anything about you, your collecting, or any of the other things you mentioned.

you need a thicker skin dude. it's an internet message board. it's about toys and fun...

are there $1000 toys here anymore? I thought everyone sold their stuff for a third of what they paid for it.

If you think this thread has any shred of negativity, you haven't been here very long. Oh, yeah, I guess you haven't. Besides if you don't want people to comment, don't post. BTW, if someone comments about a toy, whether they like it or not, it is not a personal attack on you.

If you think you got attacked or that people in this thread were trying to be even remotely "hardcore" you'd probably be brutally beaten down in a romper room.

The comments you perceived as rude seemed more like genuine advice from seasoned collectors who took the time to teach a newer board member and got unnecessarily shat on for their efforts.

bryce i am sorry for freaking out.
you guys are right. i should be ready for any comment made after i post. i honestly felt like i was being laughed at for posting this thing at all. thats the truth. im new here but may be to defensive after using search function and reading all the horrible things that have been said here. i always try to find good in any toy except the krotch rot things. like the nag toy, i dont care for it but i can see where people could love it. its like watching a head on car crash. its awful to see but you cant look away because its tragically beautiful.

No, I don't see Usugrow art in form nor content with this toy.

Except for the fact that the figure is half-naked/shirtless, it has the "rebel" word for a name, tattoos which is definitely, remotely similar to the ones that maybe Usugrow might come up with, but on all points, I don't get the Usugrow vibe.

I think you get props for putting yourself out there and voicing what you like or what caught your eye. That takes more something or other than just tagging along and liking what everyone else likes.

It's always fun to watch when someone (even regulars) post something new. Some people are cautious and won't have an opinion about it. They're waiting to see what others think before they decide themselves.

Going back to this piece, I hate the hat the most. Just screams urban vinyl to me. The stance sucks. The wings look crude and heavy to me. I hate the bat, reminds of some mascot toy that had a bat which I didn't like. Ripped pants remind me of RxH.

Some people hate the Rebel Inks cause of the shoes, baggy pants, etc, they think it looks too urban.

I think most people's taste evolves over time. It gets refined over time cause you see toy after toy after toy and you get a better sense of what works for you and what doesn't. What was successful and what fails. Myself, I liked skulls years ago (KawsxPushead, Skullwings etc), but these days I'm kinda bored with adding even more to my collection. I want something different. Another example, I liked the Nag originally, but now I can't stand the figure.

In the end, buy what you like cause you'll probably be stuck with it after you sign off the board. It's silly to buy stuff to fit in up here. I have alot of stuff that is never obsessed over up here. Some it is probably unpopular. Whatever.

I can definitely see where you are coming from in saying some may consider the artist a Usugrow wannabe. It certainly appears that he had gathered some inspiration from the Rebel/Salvation sculpts to say the least. A pants-only wearing skeleton dude, tattoos, and even the Vans-esque slip-ons. Personally, this toy doesn't carry any aesthetic appeal to me, but it's still interesting to see, especially with the assumption in my mind that he is a Usugrow fan himself.

Welcome to the board! Your skin will thicken if you are determined to stick around. Just remember in a situation like this, the majority of the comments are intended toward the toy you've posted, not you personally.

man, woman, other...doesn't matter to me. either way, you gotta have a thick skin. if people really give you crap, give it right back.

liquid is right. you do get props for talking about something you're interested in rather than being like the 100 or so other lemmings that only like something because someone tells them it's cool to.

I don't like the skull dude at all but I do think the Sin Eater is interesting, more photos could help.

About liquidsky's post, totally agree with it... with everything, one of my favorite posts yet.

@liquidsky great post

I can definitely vouch for the fact that your taste in toys will change. Sometimes you see a figure you can't stand. Then you'll see it in a colorway you like or it just starts to grow on you. Like the bemon pollution monster i couldn't stand it, started seeing the different color ways. Now I can't stay away from them. One thing I've noticed is that no matter how good the picture it never serves these figures justice.
As for the rebel angel looks cool not something I'm into but if you like it go for it. I just can't help that it doesn't look to original or creative.
