Post First US Screening of SPACE BATTLESHIP YAMATO!
Yesterday, November 6th, I attended the American Film Market screening of SPACE BATTLESHIP YAMATO at the Criterion Theater in Santa Monica! As a long-time, hardcore YAMATO fan, I was extremely happy with the movie, which was subtitled in English. In a word, SPACE BATTLESHIP YAMATO is spectacular! Takashi Yamazaki takes the original story into amazing new directions, and marries it with the best elements of the previous entries in the franchise. Yamazaki does for YAMATO what J.J. Abrams did for STAR TREK!

Can't wait to see this someday. Will this get a limited release or just straight to DVD/Blu-Ray for the US market?

The screening was part of the American Film Market, in which they screen upcoming or new films for potential sales and distribution... So, everyone attending was mostly potential licensors — they already have some interest, but it will depend on who the highest bidder is — then, we have to hope that said buyer isn't going to bury the film (or put it in remake hell).
