Just changed ours to streaming only since that's all we ever do on the Xbox.

 Re: netflix instant thread.
against all the recommendations, we ended up watching the human centipede the ending was quite good, actually; much better than most shlock horror movie endings. however, we had to immediately follow it up with air guitar nation (also finally available for streaming) to get it out of our minds. now that's quality film making!

Also Shawn the Sheep is my daughters new favorite (since we exhausted Wallace and Gromit.) I rented and watched every episode of Lexx from my local video store a few years ago. I love how insect-based technology is used throughout the series, as well as the complete disregard for dignity as an aspect of the human condition. As in all good camp, they really take some bizarre ideas to extremes, and they make it work pretty well. If you get tired of it eventually, you can safely skip the last season, except for the episode where they go to Vegas. The second season is probably the best and features the actor from Human Centipede as the main bad guy.

Agreed, that's what I liked about the ending. It leaves the audience knowing that there's no hope ... which is about all I can say without spoiling it for others. But those who've seen it know what I mean. There's a sense of tragedy there that has a bit more gravitas than the somewhat silly vulgarity of other scenes.

It felt more like a movie that would have been made 10 or 15 years ago...as not nearly as many projects like this get made as they used to.

baronacasino wrote: has anyone watched bronson? Hardy is amazing in it. He's going to be one of the next big stars with Batman and the Mad Max reboot. Beyond that if you have any exposure to other things the director Nicholas Winding Refn has made then you will know if you will love/like/hate the movie. He's a very specific kind of director and Bronson feels very much like he's channeling Kubrick. I found the film to be pretty great but I was fans of both the director and actor going in.

Yeah I remember seeing a few episodes when it was being aired on SciFi (or as it's now SyFy huh?) and kind of got into it. What I like is it seems to be aware that it's crappy but in a way that makes it charming and fun. Finally finished Arrested Development, amazing. My 2 year old dances to the theme and also yells "Buster!" when it's on.

Too bad it got more popular after it got taken off the air. 3 seasons was just not enough. Your 2 year old child already has great taste.

Amazing everything with that show. I personally don't think there is a funnier show out there. I've seen all the seasons at least three times and I still laugh just as hard and still find references to other episodes that I didn't realize before. There was talk of an Arrested Development movie that would continue the story, not just sum up the show. Who knows what ever happened to that... I would be so fuckin excited if that went down. It seems everyone just keeps doing other things. David Cross' new show is pretty funny though... anyway, but Michael Cera is getting older so who knows, he's still just as good at being awkward though. Kakaw ka'kaw ki'kaww!! Gob's fuckin chicken impressions get me every time.

 Re: netflix instant thread.
They have announced an Arrested Development feature film for 2012. Also the creator of Arrested Development Michael Hurwitz is currently working on the show Running Wilde. Running Wilde start Will Arnett, who plays as GOB in Arrested Development and also features David Cross.

I'm about to take my chances with Human Centipede tonight now that it's instant. Sounds like its a little too over the top to not be corny, but we'll see. Lately, I've been watching a lot of Pingu the penguin with my 2 year old nephew. He's MESMERIZED by that show. Pretty neat clay stop-and-shoot animation.

It was on IFC a few months ago and we watched multiple times and can't seem to delete it from our DVR I've been pulled into Battle Star Galactica which is weird because it's a show i didn't think i would ever watch. There is a National Geographic doc about North Korea that I really dug. That place fascinates me. the restored Metropolis is on instant view HIGHLY RECOMMEND! 25 found minutes, Blows my mind every time i watch it. It just doesn't seem possible, i mean 1927!?

 Re: netflix instant thread.
re battlestar galactica, was considering starting the show but the initial miniseries is not available on instant. will i miss anything from jumping right into season 1 episode 1?
also, they've been promising that arrested movie for years. the show does not need it, it got to have a perfectly satisfying end a season or two early. the creators should be focusing their talents on new comedy.

The mad scientist characterization is probably the best thing about the movie. Just finished watching it, and I completely agree with this. This aside, however, the movie was pretty dumb IMO. The plot was absolute garbage. Girls are on vacation. Dude is a nutty doctor whose 3-Hund just keeled over. Wrong place, wrong time. Nuff said. If you're relying solely on shock value, then at least get a decent special effects team and take the fucking bandages off so we can actually see what's going on. Sequence 2 can suck my kiss.

Just watched Annie Hall on instant. It's been a long while since I last watched it, and it is still a great film. I think I even appreciate it more now than I have before. Probably because a lot of the recent Woody Allen movies aren't very good. If you guys haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend it.

COMCAST ATTACKS NETFLIX
BREAKING NEWS: The New York Times just reported that Comcast will block Netflix unless a new fee is paid to Comcast -- so Netflix's price goes up and people use Comcast's video service instead.
This outrageous abuse of power by Comcast comes on the very week that President Obama's FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski will announce whether he'll fulfill Obama's promise to protect the open Internet and Net Neutrality -- which would prevent this type of corporate abuse.
According to the New York Times, it all started on November 19th when Comcast demanded that Level 3 Communications, "a central partner in the Netflix online movie service", pay a new fee or risk Netflix users suffering service "disruptions." Forcing Netflix, a direct competitor to Comcast's own online video service, to pay higher fees is exhibit A of what corporations will do without strong Net Neutrality protections.
