This thread is unnecessary. If you've had a bad transaction, the you can call the individual out publicly after failed attempts of settling thru pm(for example Mark's recent thread on Selekta) There's no need to have a list of "bad people" on Skullbrain, seems very amateur.

 I just want to say thank you for this quote. That made my day.

I don't know if it'd be possible, but it'd be cool if everybody had one sales thread, and one sales thread only. Fine, it purges from view after 8 pages as to not create a clusterfuck of a million dead sales threads. However, we can still access our personal sales topic via our User Control Panel. Person B hides for 6 months, and his sales thread weans its way out of the picture. When he surfaces again to sell an item, his thread is forced to also resurface, and thusly a historical trail of comments is still visible. If he makes right with person A (and/or C, D, E, etc), those people can certainly edit their comments of dissatisfaction... or leave them up depending on the outcome. No "bad sellers" list required, no need to do research outside of the BST to find out what you are getting into when dealing with said person. Just an idea, unsure of its possibility.

I actually like this idea. No idea how it would get implemented though.

Since you're holding the "days of old" up as a point of reference, can you tell us how the selekta_nips situation would have played out on the Skullbrain of, say, 2005, as opposed to now? What has changed in the way these situations arise and how they're handled? I ask because I'm genuinely curious.

Having not been here since 2005, no, I have no specific examples. My point is that, when you look at most threads on this discussion, there is an overwhelming attitude that Skullbrain is 'better' than having a Feedback section because it 'takes care of its own'. That was certainly applicable in the 'days of old' when, from what I understand, most of Skullbrain was acquainted outside of the forum.

That said, my answer doesn't really help in the situations of older members dropping the ball, but for repeat incidents like nips it could have helped. Mark's a smart dude, and if there had been somewhere that said that nips has had major issues in the past, Mark probably would have seen that and not committed to a trade. At the same time, I still don't understand the attitude that we still shouldn't talk about it.

That's kind of my point, both eloco and crimsontide + aka's played us, worked the community and then pulled a fast and expensive runner on us. So a list like this would never have made a blind bit of difference.
riddlped I don't recall off hand.

My piece is said.
Old topic, why revisit it except to have the same heated back and forth debate again and again where we decide in the end to just leave it, or after a few days, it falls off the front page and out of our memory for a few months.

Thats fine. But if its between having this argument every six months and watching people i like being forced to practically give their toys away or not buying toys at this specific place then I say get rid of the BST.

Well, if these people pulling this shit aren't being moderated then maybe we do need a list or some way to fend for ourselves. Just saying be and adult in who you deal with doesn't help, Tavaro was a "stand up" guy as well remember? people turn to the dark side and a good sign they're headed down that path is taking MONTHS to deliver on items and at minimum not even COMMUNICATE with the buyer.

I mean Selekta is on his second time around with this bullshit and none of the mods has locked his selling thread until things are taken care of. Why not?

i haven't ripped anyone in at least a month.

As for locking Selekta Nips sales thread or banning him or whatever, it's a fine line. He may be slow to ship, but I don't think he's actually ripped anyone off (has he?).

There are some very well known artists that take a ton of time to ship. We wouldn't want to ban them.

I'm joshing. Your opinion is just as valid as mine or anyone else's. Why is anybody being forced to practically give away their toys, though? I didn't quite understand that part.

Post Re: bad seller/trader list
I had a seller with 1000+ posts recently take 28 days to ship me something. (still haven't gotten it yet, but I trust that it's sent). No communication during the lull save a message the day before he sent it saying I didn't tell him my address. (it's in my paypal info)

I know that he has stuff going on in his life, and I know that either I'll eventually get my stuff or I won't and I'll open a paypal case. The bad seller/trader list is a good idea, but a bad reality. I've been on ebay with the same username since the year ebay started. I have just over 100 pieces of feedback. That's with 1000s of items bought. Most people are apathetic about leaving good feedback, but quick to throw someone under the bus if they don't get their stuff in what they consider a timely manner

In the case of Selekta_Nips- there's a KR forums thread about him and his "delays" in communication and shipping. And now there's one on SB. I think it's easier to do it like that- to call out someone who continually f's up than to have a thread that has to be watched, edited, etc.

I think there's a recent push for not lower the prices of your sales since it encourages people to expect lower prices. I think that price is generally dictated by what the buyer is willing to pay (my recent "why is the BLOOD Skull Pirate 2x more expensive than ITS A GIRL Skull Pirate musings) moreso than what the seller wants to charge for it, but see the point in lowering prices hurting as well.

riddlped I don't recall off hand.

Riddlped tried to flip toys here, including some he got for free by mistake from s7, but he didn't rip anyone off in terms of not shipping as far as I know. High prices do not make a bad seller per se.

While I see it would be hard to make a list, writing something like "Bad Seller A: Person B, C and D say he never shipped their toys, person E says it took 7 months to get his - Bad Seller A says he did not have an internet connection" could work and let people make up their own mind, no? It doesn't have to be a mod keeping the list up to date, the person writing the post could link to the thread discussing the situation (outside BST).

I don't know about you, but unless I buy a 200$+ toy, I tend to trust people here and not check their background. And you're bound to get a ton of results if you "search" someone with 1000+ posts and don't have the perfect keywords.

I am with Backtrack on this. Why bother?

Paypal protects you! You would be amazed how quick someone who is not responding will respond when their account is FROZEN.

We could call the new banned sellers the "Burned Bridges"...

"dead beat report"

"Assholes among us"

Post Re: bad seller/trader list
First, apologies for what I'm about to suggest, but I don't actually have any selling experience here, nor on ebay.
But. I was wondering if it has ever been considered in the history of BST to exploit private/invitation-only ebay sales.

The way I'd see it is Sellers would announce sales with their ebay uid here and allow the various features of that service do the work for them.

You could still limit the target audience to this board, adjust prices etc. then if it doesn't sell and you feel like it, open it up for non-SB buyers.
