 Re: New Gargamel Figs!
I am really not feeling the color scheme of the full-size Zag. I will still try to get one to be complete (or near complete), but it's as if they are not putting much effort into this figure's paint scheme anymore.
I also am digging the micro zag, the crouching mibora, and (to a lesser extent because I don't collect the figure anymore), the camo mini deathras. I am sure they will be packing more heat than these standards, though, and it looks like a fu@@ing great show!

It's awesome how lazy that fullsize Zag paint is.

I completely agree, with the exception of the GID Bako(below) and the soon to be Deathra, I haven't seen a Gargamel colorway that was really interesting or new in the past year. Lots of the better releases have been remakes(ex.thrashout deathra). It also seems like they've had a million customs with interesting and new colors, but releases have become kinda boring to me too. That said there have been a lot of great new sculpts which might also be where there focus is (standard deathra, crouching deathra, micros: ooze, zag, angel bird, and mibora, crouching mibora, pocket hobo, pocket s-taiin, pocket hujili, Standard hujili, pocket Boris, Randall).

Agreed - there have been some fantastic customs, but not everyone likes or collects customs. It would be nice to see them focus on making their standard releases really awesome.

I agree fully, there are quite a few customs that would make perfect releases too. Also here's a micro mibora in clear grey to go with thaapic of the black 1, not sure if it tongue either .

 Re: New Gargamel Figs!
Im sure Gargamel will bring the heat to Chicago, but i'm definitely not feeling this new batch of releases. The paint application on that standard zag just seems really uninspired to me. I have to say i'd kill to get my hands on one of those camo crouching deathras though. fingers crossed they are working on something extra special for the 2011 luckybags

They look cool and I know that they make a lot of money doing this but I'm getting a little burnt on the myriad of custom pieces. I'll like Gargamel to get back to really awesome production pieces.

 Re: New Gargamel Figs!
Yeah, I'm tired of the 1-off craze. Especially with Gargamel, their sprays while very well executed tend to be pretty simple. There are so many 1-offs out there, what's stopping a customizer from spraying Gargamel figures and passing them off as 1-offs? If a custom Gargamel figure popped up on e-bay listed as a one-off could the normal collector tell?

 Re: New Gargamel Figs!
To me 1-offs by the creator of the toy or someone who's involved with the company are different then just random customs. I know, it's a POV I don't think everyone shares but I'm fine with that. I also think they're cool in a sense of just getting 1 or 2 in your collection. People who are rich or lucky enough (is that taboo? whatever, if you can fly to all these cities around the globe and afford $300-$500 toys each time or have someone buy them for you at that price so frequently then I'm considering you rich or 'well to do' or deep in debt maybe and that's not hating, I wish I was as well off!) to afford a whole collection of these are super lucky and all, but for the average collector I think 1-2 are a fine amount. I think that's part of why Gargamel does so many, they're trying to get at least 1 HP figure into the hands of all their fans, not to shove a bunch of expensive toys out there to "bank" on.
That still means they need to crank out the production pieces, but they used to do less a year anyway.
The new Deathra seems awesome to me, the new full sized Zag isn't my thing but after the large amount of color's of Zags they've done at this point it must be tough to decide what to do next and at the same time realize it's not for everyone.
Then we have the case of flooding the market with "normal" releases that no one buys. That GID Bakos is awesome but it's still sitting around most webstores. It's not like they're flying off the shelves. What would you do? You're a toy company, your normal releases aren't moving as fast but HP figures are selling for premium prices and you need to make a living. They help promote the normal releases and at the same time give these guys some "art cred" for being so talented at this.
