Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
SPOILER (I talk about things in episode 5) So last night's episode covered a lot of ground. Still liking the show but here are my complaints: I'm glad Amy turned but it took way too long. Think about it she was attacked the night before and died that night, so how come she turned around high noon the next day? Should not have taken so long. I jumped a few times thinking some of the bodies would turn also but it didn't happen. The leaving Jim scene was lame I thought. Sort of like the book but since they're rewriting it for TV could have been done better (also the mexican couple is insane for leaving). Lastly not feeling the CDC angle. The sneak peek for next week is making dread them going in this direction: http://www.amctv.com/originals/The-Walk ... 8963904001I mean it's a survival show, I was hoping for months, even years of on the road meeting new cast members and losing them before this was revealed.

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
Something tells me Jim may be back. Dr. Jenner was lamenting the loss of his samples because they were the freshest he had, maybe he'll ask them where he can get more. I like this twist with the CDC. Thumbs down to the star trek computer that takes verbal commands.
Otherwise, I liked the episode and am looking forward to the finale. Did anyone notice the soundtrack from Sunshine being used as the group split up and hit the road?

Not sure I like the CDC angle this early either. But I have not previously read the original so- I am just along for the ride. I hope the series continues to be as good as the first 4 episodes. 5 was a little slow but it can't be full throttle all the time I guess.

I hope Jim comes back aka Johnny style from NOTLD, during some random attack, but yeah I see what you mean about needing a fresh 'sample'. That track is amazing (Sunshine is a fave of mine) it's called 'Surface of the Sun' by John Murphy

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
I watched some YouTube round table discussion on the 'Wildfire' episode and they said Darabont was the main writer anyhow. He did the first two, Kirkman did one, and then Darabont rewrote the other three. So maybe he is just cutting out the middlemen.
They also stated season 2 definitely won't air till next Halloween. That sucks!

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
It's going to suck having to wait almost a year to see new episodes, but I've really been enjoying this series. I love a lot of what AMC has been doing lately (Mad Men and Breaking Bad). My only problem with this show is that I have to dvr it and watch it later. I can't watch this at night and then go to bed or I'll have nightmares.

I bought the season on itunes and I have to usually watch it before I go to work on monday. So the show seems lightweight to me before my real monday nightmare begins at work! Can't believe the season is over and the wait wil lbe almost a year. I want to know more about this Killing show they have coming up though.

I'm hoping it won't hurt the show and that they actually start Season 2 before October 2011.

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I find I'm kinda bugged by the way it's diverted from the original source.
For me part of the cool factor is how little they know or understand about the walkers and the situation. The injection of the CDC at this point in the show robs that. Also I love the way the first trade ends with the Shane/Rick twist. Makes the real antagonists the living and shows the books are willing to eliminate main characters.
I used to love to see the roster at the end of the old issues of who died in the previous book. That shit was cool too and a great way to handle the whole recap for the current book. Would rule to do that with the series.
Having said that I really dig the series. Just found the books to be really fun and innovative in a way the series isn't.

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
I thought I was going to hate the CDC detour as well but actually didn't mind it. I realized they just needed a dramatic event to conclude season 1. I mean sure it could have been them endlessly on the road trying to survive, but I'm confident we'll see much more of that in season 2. I thought it wrapped the season up nicely. Too bad we won't bring this thread up in another week or two till September of next year IMDB did trick me though. I saw that TS-19 had Lennie James (Morgan) listed in the cast and thought we'd see him again. Nope. Things I'm happy with: Keeping Shane around. I like how Jon Bernthal is portraying him. Slowly but surely every episode we see him unwinding just a little more. 2) No real answers at CDC. Just yeah, you're fucked maybe the French have an answer (really doubt the show is going to cross continents).3) Darryl surviving till next season. Hey a redneck with a crossbow and the best one liners is always great for a show like this.

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
Really enjoyed the finale. I don't mind the departure from the comic, I think it gave the story a chance to transcend the source material. Good horror and science fiction uses the premise to ask bigger and more meaningful questions than "what's going to happen next?"
In this case, the entire group got the chance to make the same decision Rick did when he was stuck under the tank. For some there was no question as to which direction they wanted to take, for others it was a little muddier. Darabont touched on this in The Mist, I liked that he revisited it here.
I liked the fact that they took the opportunity to delve into what's causing the zombie outbreak. And the reality is, they don't know! The last thing I wanted this show to do was dangle some sort of carrot in front of the human race for a solution to the problem. At this point it is just a matter of surviving.
And I totally forgot about that grenade! Anton Chekhov would be proud. And I don't think we need to have read the comic to know what Dr. Jenner whispered to Rick.
Now that we saw exactly what Shane went through, does he get a pass? Maybe.
Downsides? I could have done without the Star Trek-style computer, we still don't have technology like that, nor do we really need it. Also, that CGI look into the dying/reanimated brain implausible, too, but it served a purpose.
Did I hallucinate, or did the promo for the finale seem to indicate it would revolve around Andrea possibly being infected?

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
This is my first post on this series but I'd like to throw in some comments. I am not familiar with the comic or story prior to watching the season, so I just take the show for what it is.
I can’t get passed the horrible acting of some of the suporting cast members. I am not being racist when I say this, but I seriously pray for the day the black guy and asian get eaten by the “geeks”. They are my main hate for the show up to this point. The show has so many flaws but they take the cake for me. And that scene with them all being hungover… was that supposed to be some sort of comic relief? Too many clichés in this episode. Finally, After Jenner told the half-tards about the building being virtually indestructible, the red neck kept trying to break the glass with an axe. LAME! I hope for much more in the next season, as a whole, I give the entire first season of The Walking Dead a slowly decaying C.
My two cents

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
not into the last episode. between the annoyingly fake computer stuff and the lost in translation whisper, i did not have a good time for most of it. while giving characters the choice to keep on living is a good decision, i can't stand behind the contrived inclusion of the cdc center as a whole.
i don't have a problem with the acting for most involved. i thought the scene with shane and lori was really scary and rick played drunk really well. i just don't know any of these characters well enough to care for all of them yet.
tentative 8.5/10 for the short season.

He's the most likable guy on the show. what do you have against asian people anyways? when we met in LA, you seemed like a pretty cool guy. I had no idea that deep down inside you wished that all asians would be eaten by zombies. Had I known that, I might not have sat next to you at Astro Burger. When my daughter came in to say hello, did you wish she would get eaten by Zombies too? that's terrible. what's the matter with you? What would happen if Zombies ate all the asians? where would you get good dim sum or pho? do you even know what pho is? It's vietnamese noodles and quite tasty. But not sure if it would still be tasty if made by a vietnamese zombie which is what you are suggesting. sorry... doing a riff on David Thorne: http://27bslash6.com/index.html

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
Needs more Lennie James in it...the guy is an absolute legend IMO. One of England's finest actors and criminally underused. He best be back in Series 2.
If you guys ever want to watch a seriously hard hitting drama search out for a Channel 4 show James was in called "Buried" - best prison drama show i've seen.
