Seems like a gimmick. i can't really decide if i like them or not either...

I think they're pretty neat, way better than the rest of the crap Kaws has been putting out

How? theres a few places taht are doing this hank... but from waht i've seen they want somewhere in the $800-$850 range... pretty crazy if you ask me asking for $275 per figure, when we know they should retail at about $180 in Japan this sat... and maybe MAYBE $200 stateside when they arrive... i'm not going to do anything to hasty, and await the u.s release on kawsone in hopes of grabbing the 3 for no more then $650 shipped. I do understand some folks don't want to miss out so they are acting now... but if the rumors are true and there really is 1000 of each of these... then it wont be EXTREMELY difficult to find them at retail/close to retail... paying $275 a pop and wanting the set of 3, is just lining a flippers pocket with over $225. pretty sad when many of these flippers are the OF retailers... but o well... PURIST from san jose makes excuses of high shipping etc and this is why they boost prices... yet WISH in ATL sold their tweeties at MSRP etc... just to poke fun at PURIST i made this the other day lol for those of you that dont know its a parody of PURIST' logo

 Re: Kaws x Robert Lazzerini
Anyone know if they are going to be the same scale as the orig companions (which makes the most sense) or are they going to be smaller?

 Re: Kaws x Robert Lazzerini
Thanks for the info guys!
I think these are great! I'll only be going for one but I definitely like them. I really have to say, KAWS truly created an iconic character. I have yet to see a version of the OG companion or 5YL companion that I dislike. I really hope I can get my hands on one of these. Haven't had good luck with KAWS stuff lately.

The kid wouldn't believe that new band hadn't written the song.

The kid wouldn't believe that new band hadn't written the song. I won't deny he's definitely created something solid, but I'd have to say fancy smancy art terminology aside, it's a sticker, but that's not saying it's not effective on tons of existing characters, it is. Out of all the Kaws figures/characters though, I have to say, the best are the Companion and Chum, and that's because it's on characters that are iconic without it, If Lazzerini applied this effect to any other vinyl toy, I'd probably love it too, it's just something new and exciting in designer toys. And I also have to think- my favorite Kaws toy the KvP Companion, if Disney would have just gone to Pus and been like hey, work Mickey over for us, I think the results would have been equally crazy without the Kaws head.

Seems like a gimmick. i couldn't agree more. though i no longer own any KAWS pieces i've always been a big fan of the 5YL. but i just don't see any lasting appeal in these.
