I support this. If I could have my way, all Secret Base fighters would involve clear vinyl.

I've got the original 12" Cyclovillain as well as the all clear version and they are both two of my favorite toys. This new fight figure is pretty badass, I gotta say, and I am super tempted to pick it up. I do wish that he was hoofed like the original, but I guess that would be kind of difficult given the SB body's single piece.

Thats a great point. It would've been interesting to see this guy on a bee body - as those feet are pretty hoof like. But we can experiment with a few mash-ups ourselves.

I didn't even notice the hoof feet on the original. That is really cool and I agree a Bee body might have been a better choice. Those hoofs are killer!! I do like the hands though!

Yeah, I took that as a given but it looks like a flesh coloured head from the back view . . . curious!

This release made me take my sharkman out and remove the mask. Off was easy, back on was a nightmare, and the bug face looks cool enough that I nearly said "fuck it, I'll leave it off." I did finally get it back on though. it has an annoying lip that needs to slip over the teeth that really complicates matters.
Bugface is flesh spray with black eyes and antenna and white teeth. Very cool. I know someone somewhere has a pic of it.

The hands twist off mega easy with just a bit of heat, but it's just unpainted vinyl underneath so don't bother.

Hope these make it stateside. EMS for 1 fight figure tends to tilt the balance.

Find a friend! . . . splitting the shipping makes a hell of a difference!

at least you'll get it faster than if royal air mail sends it. if secret base was in the UK, you'd be waiting 12+ days.

paid for mine today, cant wait to see this lil friend in person.

I think this is one of the best fighter sculpts to come from secret base in a real long time and I got an email that accepted my order, however, I feel they are charging way to much when you include shipping for this. With the way the prices of figures are dropping all the time and being able to get most sb fighters for under 50.00 I cannot justify spending close to $100.00 ($88.00) on this figure. Why does secret base constantly raise their prices when most companies are lowering them?

Does anyone else agree that the overall price (with shipping) is just too high for this?

i was taken back a bit by the price too, after shipping was included.

2 reasons why i still went ahead..

#1, its a new fight fig, first in the series and yea, bad ass.

#2 i was afraid if i cancelled the order (after getting the final quote) that i would be thrown in the "dont sell to this person anymore, they cancelled their order."

So, i guess my question to the group would be, after you see the total cost, are you allowed to cancel w/o penalty??

I hear you and agree with you on the cancellation thing, but the email from SxB says, if we do not hear from you within 48 hours we cannot accept future orders from you. I take that as if you respond with a yes or no, they will be cool with it. Its not like you agree to the price, get the invoice and then decide to cancel the order. They should understand that the total after shipping will determine a lot of people's minds if they decide to purchase or not and there is no way to make a final decision prior to receiving a total. If I (or anyone) loses their future shopping priviliges over this, then so be it. To me that is bad business and doesn't give your customer a fair chance to make an informed purchasing decision.

yea. this i'm not sure.... although i don't think they can fault you if you immediately decline after they send you the quote (as long as you don't agree after that).

How much was everyone else's shipping fee? i ordered something else (thinking i can save on shipping) and it cost me 3,000 yen! - i guess it's not totally their fault for the high price because the yen vs. usd sucks so bad now

anyone know if they're willing to do SAL shipping? I got something from Mandarake and it only cost 580 yen to ship (even though there's no tracking, it takes awhile, and they don't take paypal for this method)

Shipping to the UK for x 2 was only a 200 yen more than the single . . . if a bunch of you US guys combined your orders you'd pay way less!

Just be thankful Hiddy's still producing fighters . . . I just heard from yet another source that he's pretty burned out on 'em in general!

$88, cripes. Even if Lulubell gets this guy for $70, that's still too steep for a fighter. I like supporting the things I enjoy and want to see more of and all, but there's a limit.

We only have ourselves to blame. Something close to a precedent was set that you have to sell your figures at a loss (unless it's a Nag, Bemon or Anraku). That, coupled with people buying things they aren't really all that into, has lead to figures "not being worth" retail. (I still wonder if that's why S7 doesn't carry other companies toys as much as they use to...they don't carry SB or RxH at all anymore.) I don't think retail has really gone up - this figure is 5040Y. The conversion rate use to be such that a quick/dirty conversion would make that $50.40. A few years back FFs from S7 were $55-$65, so that's essentially the same price just with a different conversion rate.

agreed. the last secret base fight figures i remember getting from s7 was the voodoo set, and those ran $73 each after shipping. that isn't much of a difference. since then, i've mostly bought from secret base themselves, which is about the same, just a bit higher for overseas shipping. all around figure pricing has gone way down on the secondary market. i got most of my secreters for under $100 each, which would have been crazy a couple years back (i think i paid around $70 shipped for my sun secreter!). its nice on the buyers end, getting these figures we have always wanted without breaking the bank, but on the other end, the amount of figures we want from future releases will be affected because no one seems to want to pay retail like they had in the past, which only makes sense for companies to not carry the goods or come out with as much stuff. so yeah, i have mixed emotions on the whole topic...

Agreed. Totally mixed emotions. I love that I was able to pick up a bunch of Secreters for essentially retail. But it sucks that there's this "wait and buy later" mentality that, IMO, has lead to these figures being unavailable from my favorite retailer (S7).
I'm not into this new sculpt because the head looks too large. But whenever I'm interested in a SB figure I'll buy it at retail, even with the knowledge that I could buy it later for less on the BST forum.

Post Re: New SB sculpt with real pictures now.....
Interesting discussion. Yep its a lot for a figure - but in yen terms its reasonable (not SB's fault the exchange rate sucks). A coupel of years ago it would have worked out less than US retail. But if no one buys one, well there wont be any showing up in BST regardless of price. And if people keep on not buying em, then that'll surely be the death of the fight figure - which so many folk complain about. So I say; if you like it buy it. Support your favorite toy producer - if u dont, they wont be making the toys you like - and then you wont have a choice whether to buy it or not.

and remember - at least you can buy this - its not like some store only release u dont get a shot at, but wish u could.

I think this is a good discussion. As Carl said when the $$ was boss we could get SB figures for something like $40 - $50 new.

For me I buy new for two main reasons:

1) I like to have a figure sealed from the factory (or store)

and

2) I buy when I can because if the figure ends up being rare there's no telling if and when you'd get another chance at owning it

Speaking of steep from SB, 10500, don't like sitting out on base mystery grabs though. I would be way less hesitant if those ronald mcdonald things didn't seem like a possibility of getting. After seeing those marbled pirates, osaka wings, and the recent obake dogs I wouldn't sleep on this though.

When the fuck did people here stop buying awesome new fighters in essentially thrashout colors? And it looks looks like it has a fleshy head underneath it, awesome.
