Yeah it is one of those "don't shit where you eat" kind of deals. But lord help me I want a white one...I think his bank roll goes a lot higher than mine anyway...

Yeah, I was going to say that it strikes me as narcissistic.
I wish it at least had a red stump.
The Kaws brand definitely seems to be weakening, but I'm keeping my 5YLs.

(IMO) I think the collaborations seem to give the KAWS 'brand' a lil' more depth!
Yeah sure it's skullbones and crossed out eyes on everything but I really like the stuff that's being produced once he gets involved with other people (although the Twins kinda missed the mark for me personally).
. . . as long as the QC is kept up to speed it all looks good to me!

Im curious to see, if at all, how much BXH will get hyped now.

I was wondering the same thing...I'm sure there will be some. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not...

(IMO) I think this pairing is a great idea, and aesthetically the Kaws trade mark ears and eyes fits well with the established BxH Sukaru (someone tell me the correct spelling please) Kun. I am super stoked on this release - I love most Kaws stuff and I love most BxH stuff, so pairing the two = complete lovefest.
As for the Kaws brand softening - we have just had the magnificent KVP, and only the twins have sucked. I don't remember people complaining so much about that Blitz figure. So if it were true, then this quality release can only help. In fact, this is so soon after the twins, that maybe it was rush released to help mitigate that underwhelming release?
Other plus points for a secret release (this beats knowing about a release in advance and still not scoring it. I'd rather lose out on a secret release any day) and including the head (which for some reason I think is funny).
The upcoming dissected companion can only up the ante further!

muton...this is the kaws version of the SKULL KUN
and i agree with you. But i'm going to wait this one out until the rush to buy is over. Besides, I want a new snowboard, and the last time I checked bindings dont attach well to my companions.

I have a really nice Burton board with a zombie on it, and super nice step in bindings (great for us older folk) - but it lies mostly unused since a rather unfortunate incident involving a hip jump, a hidden icy lip and a rather costly ambulance ride

my gear is approaching ten years old, so i need an entirely new set up. $$$ and Kaws just isn't the priority now.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that there's such a flood of product recently that it might be pushing prices and the image down. Not saying that I don't love the KxB collaboration (and I also like BxH). But since 5YL, there's been:
2 GID 5YL colourways
5 colourways of the KxP (not including the SDCC customs)
3 colourways of the Twins
2 colourways of the Skull Kun
Supposedly 3 colourways of the dissection
I agree that these sculpts are killer, but just seems like alot of toys out there.
Twins were sitting out on TT and ebay for reasonable prices.
OriginalFake KxP sitting out on ebay for reasonable prices.
In the past, there have been Kaws completists. Now there's so much out there and I wonder how many of the 5YL collectors are going to be completists and chase this other stuff. And can the market absorb all of this.
Maybe Kaws is becoming more accessible (easier to purchase) than in the past.
Just seems like his image or brand is changing in some way.
I don't know, I'm just babbling and not a Kaws expert.
But it feels like something seems to be shifting.

well, since he is supposed to design EVERYTHING for the OF store and still keep things sorta "limited" I would think he needs to pick up the pace on releases or else no one would bother going there since there's the same old shit & not much inventory

Who . . wha' . . .where?
Any word as to the 3 colourways. I'm guessing Brown, Grey, Black, but any input welcome!

This is news to to me. # colorways ....
If I get any it will be only 1.
**edited because after some thought I'm wrong. I would probably never sell what I have unless I had to. I just talk foolish sometimes.**

Fuck selling. You sound like Kozik.
I picked up nearly everything at cost and like the design.
Just thinking it's going to get more difficult to assemble a solid Kaws collection.
By solid, I don't mean completist/everything, to me that's boring/museum-like.
I mean being selective and choosing individual colourways that work together or with other pieces.

Well I liked him better when he wasnt EVRYWHERE. Not because it was rare but because when I looked at them it was refreshing becuase you didnt see them all the time.
Now....psssht everywhere you turn KAWS is there.
** edit #1 after some time to think about what I said I must admit I'm wrong. Even though I still think there is to many figs at one time I still enjoy his work.**
Now with releases every month he if flooding the KAWS toy market. Not enough time to get excited. More time to get sick of seeing it.
**edit # 2 because I could have said this a bit better. Let me try... I mean with the releases so close there isnt enough time for them to finish selling. So toys that are dope end up sitting out pilling up not selling because everyone knows the next one is just around the corner.**
I know he is head designer but there are a million things he can make besides toys.
**edit #3 KAWS is one of my top 3 favorite artist. And what I meant was I want to see more than toys from him. I believe he can create a new form of media to express his art. He is an inovator so I cant wait to see him create the next platform. Look what he did for the "designer/urban toy scene. I LOVE his toys and will still collect but would love to see whats next from him**
