 Re: The Gun Thread
^ Holy macaroni that's a lot of toy water guns! Now I really want it to be Summertime so I can run around with my friends and squirt each other with super soakers! I haven't done that in probably 15 years or so.. Hmmmm... I need to put that on my to do list.

 Re: The Gun Thread
That IS an awesome gun collection Mike Like Bike!! Nerf guns are great too!! I have a couple Nerf guns I'm thinking about modifying when I have the time to do so. ---NT---, I’d like to know how you know the purpose of the first knife. I’ve done research into the subject and have NEVER come across any explanation of what a knife was originally intended for. Please direct me to the link, your reference, or wherever you got that information from. It’s funny to think that even chimpanzees have been known to fashion weapons out of pointed sticks for hunting. Guns can be a tool for killing, but there are other uses for them too. They are tools for defending, attacking, hunting, intimidating, pleasure, sport, collecting, and whatever else. The commonality in all those though are humans. It’s the person behind the gun that determines the use for it. Before guns people used bows and arrows, swords, knives, clubs, maces, axes, rocks, pointed sticks, and anything else they could get their hands on to kill with. If they couldn’t use anything they’d use their own hands to kill with. Killing therefore is an undesirable fact of life. There will ALWAYS be people that use whatever tool they can to do harm with. It’s happened in every part of the world during the whole course of human history. I’d even go as far as to guess that it happened in pre modern man. We can’t stop that as much as everyone wants to. Humans are just basically glorified animals, and animals have animal instincts. Fighting mother nature has NEVER worked in the long run. Btw people DO use handguns to hunt with. Do a quick google search and you’ll find tons of information on it. Automatic weapons- are you talking fully automatic or semiautomatic? Automatic weapons are indeed used in hunting. They are also the result of people not wanting to reload a gun after so many shots. Kind of like a multi CD players in that respect. You want to talk about the laziness of most people I’ll agree with you on that. Humans are always trying to find easier ways to do things. Is that really a bad thing though in a broad sense? And no, Guns are NOT meant to be used primarily for murdering people. I agree with you they are not meant to be taken lightly. You go to any gun school or training program and they state that right off the bat. They are a serious tool, as serious as any car. Proper training is what should be and needs to be taught to people. People aren’t allowed to just go out and drive a car. They need to be taught and trained on how to use one. Same concept applies. Are you talking murder rate and registered gun ownership? Murder rate and illegal gun ownership? You should really try and define the correlations you’re trying to describe. There’s tons of facts out there if you’re really interested in it. Kichigai, I’m wondering what you mean by ‘grow some balls’? Is having balls the only way to be mature? Maybe growing some balls is a reference to not having fear? Women don’t have balls but can act just as fearless and mature as men. I think your statement about ‘growing some balls’ is sexist and degrading. You should apologize for it. PMS is a naturally occurring fact of life. It happens in both men and women. In men it’s commonly called IMS. It’s a time of the month when men exhibit some symptoms that though are not as severe as their counterparts, can lead to anger, anxiety, irritability, depression, a drop in hormones, etc. My apologies to any women that were offended by that comment, but it was not conceived in a way to offend women. I was talking more about how some posters were showing such irritability and anger about the topic of guns, and then degrading to the use of personal attacks. I acknowledge Midol is a product designed for women, but not knowing any product designed for men exhibiting IMS, I figured this product most approximated my thoughts. Only two of the comments you quoted me have anything to do with the sex of a person. The Midol, which I just explained, and the little girl comment. The little girl comment was just a retort using the opposite of what was said. Nothing sexist was meant by it. So to clarify some are acting like a little children, not not 'grown ass men' Anyway, I'm done with this now. I figured I'd comment one more time on the subject. As I've previously stated everyone is entitled to their own opinion on the subject. Gun rights discussions have the tendencies to go on and on. I'm not about to start down that path. I come here primarily for the toys. Some hate guns and will never own them. Some love guns and can't own enough of them. Some (like me) have respect for guns and their uses, but don't even own one. We are all free in this country to have an opinion on it. We are all free to an extent to own one or not own one. Let's just agree to disagree on this topic and drop it. I think the rest of the board members would appreciate it.

I'd go for a toy gun thread, but I agree this has no real place here.

I ask partly because then I would be relegated to telling people to "shut up" occasionally, but also because I'm wondering why you are reading threads that you don't like or... well I won't read into it too much...

 Re: The Gun Thread
when I was a kid I had one of those old fashioned cap guns with the red paper caps that would smoke when fired. I remember sometimes I would fire the gun and then inhale the smoke. Or maybe it was the red plastic ring caps, I forget.

Do they even make cap guns anymore? I bet they have that lame orange tip?

In Cali they use to sell them at firework stands. We use to fuck with those things big time. Would love to get my hands on one of those things but they prolly banned it along with DDT or something

 Re: The Gun Thread
When I was little my brothers & I had these guns & we would play a sort of laser tag game in the woods behind our house. I remember those little disks came in all sorts of diffrent colors & they would be all over the yard, in the car, couch cushions, etc. Although I know they were Star Trek guns ours were a goldish color & we had those little tricorders that were walkie talkies. Oh man I haven't thought about those in forever. I gotta call my brother.
