 Troll Hunter
I just love 'found footage' movies. And I love monsters!!! I thought Cloverfield opened a door to a whole world of new possibilities and atmosphere! And I am so ready for this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vy2nAOdBUlw

 Re: Troll Hunter
We enjoyed the movie, but my girlfriend is a regular sufferer of migraines & shaky-cam / POV movies really set it off for her. This was the unannounced closing night film at FF last year & she did a great job enduring it! My friends who really dislike shaky-cam and found-footage concepts walked out - no big surprise.

 Re: Troll Hunter
I'll watch it probably, but I suspect I'll hate it - I hate "found footage" (never heard that term used for the genre before) movies.

 Re: Troll Hunter
Despite the shaky crap this was a fun flick. Funny dragging in bears from all over to cover the Troll antics. I'll watch it again. Oh and the countryside was just beautiful.

I hate found footage films too, I mean seriously find them to be one of the worst gimmicks in film but I found Troll Hunter to be fantastic fun. I think they just do a good job of establishing the lore and the actors are serviceable in their roles. It also helps it's not a typical supernatural based found footage film which seem to all be far too similar in tone and weak gotcha attempts to scare.

 Re: Troll Hunter
Very funny movie i love the docufiction style mixed with a simple but right CGI unique bad thing is the look of trolls a little bit to similar to cartoon trolls. will be great if trolls have more mcfarlane style, they seem to be more Disney.

Apparently this is how trolls are rumored to appear - so the pre/post show Q&A says. The legend or myth of them stands quite strong over there, I guess you could compare it to kappa in Japan - average people know it probably doesn't exist, but lots are raised with the superstition. I'm glad that it didn't have any crazy morbid brutal overly detailed trolls, but some big ol' animatronics instead of CGI would have rubbed me the right way. Lixx wrote: This looks like the foreign version of Blair Witch with CGI.... Not at all, I mean I saw one of the BW movies way back at some point or another, and hated it. This was a lot more entertaining, and has much more chuckles than scares. It's not a movie to be taken terribly seriously, and through all the tension you can have plenty of laughs.

 Re: Troll Hunter
It's good, a bit flat and could do with some trimming down, a touch over long.
But fun and solid in it's conception and execution. To it's credit, the CGI is handled very well.

 Re: Troll Hunter
Finally got to see it and really liked but not loved it. The trailer just spoiled too much of it. Also, there are one or two little logic holes that could have been avoided easily.
But still, I say 7/10 troll farts!

 Re: Troll Hunter
I have to say, I quite liked this movie. The concept was creative, and the story pretty good too. It was far better than any other comparable 'mockumentary' or found footage crap out there. I really appreciate that they didn't at all go for the whole cheap care tactics, sudden jumps, or off-camera bumping and what not that the others (Blair Witch, Paranormal Activity, Cloverfield, REC, etc, etc, etc...) are replete with. I am especially glad that they didn't resort to shitty footage; most video is HD quality these days, and this basically seemed just like any other film. I would not have thought there was any space or point in making another one of these films, but this changed my mind. I should add that I have seen way shakier cams in movies [any of the recent action or alien-themed movies], and it seems to be a very disturbing trend (really, who decided this was a good idea?). It's just bad filmmaking. Of course, all of this is easily explained by that fact that this movie is not from Hollywood

 Re: Troll Hunter
This is the one thing that keeps me from watching this. I thought the marketing and whole set up to blair witch was genius, but since then. Cloverfield was just awful. The only found footage I found interesting since BW was the Marble Hornet thing. ---NT--- wrote: I'll watch it probably, but I suspect I'll hate it - I hate "found footage" (never heard that term used for the genre before) movies.
