Slack wrote: as much as I spend on toys, I could never ever spend that kind of money on a t-shirt. For $70 you could get 5 pocket Cheetah tees. I'm still not understanding why it's so expensive to make a t-shirt in JP? Nobody has really explained why it is, just that it is. Japan is a high priced place to make ANYTHING. They have a small but highly skilled work force and their factory technology was second to none until China started making super factories in the larger industrial cities. Clothing made in Japan is of the highest quality available anywhere outside of Seville Row tailors. Japan has brought back such fabrics as ringspun cotton (now a staple in american high end clothing) and selvage denim (quickly becoming the standard for high end jeans everywhere). Sewing is more on the order of what you used to see out of Milan tailors and Japan's seam, tape and labeling work is breathtaking (to those of us who make clothing at least). Here in America we are used to cheaper t-shirt prices since most companies doing business in this country make their t-shirts domestically except when things are sewn from scratch and heavy embellishment is used. Then it shifts to China for the most part. Even then most brand name shirt are now around 25-30 dollars. Is Japan quality that much better? Yes. Are you willing to pay the price for quality clothing? Depends. One thing you can be sure about though, only serious clothing companies work in Japan. Much of what is sold for cheaper in Japan is made in Vietnam or China much as it is here.

Re: Angora Patio
I always thought the original nag sculpt was my favorite. But seeing that shot, it might have just changed to the 4 eyes.

Re: Angora Patio
What he said. The Flat Head has a workshop full of antique equipment, like selvedge looms and chain-stitch embroidery machines, that they brought over from the US and refurbished to make their clothing. Their quality is insane. Daimyo wrote: Japan is a high priced place to make ANYTHING. Re: Angora Patio
You should do another one, but take a dremel to the surface and roughen it up before painting.

Yes i know I was commenting on the content of both threads and on how the subjects of interest in both of them seemed to converge for a moment on Japanese vs Chinese craftsmanship.

Re: Angora Patio
T-shirts shipped out EMS, thats pretty quick considering everything that's happened. It's awesome it turned into a fundraiser, takes the sting off the price.

While hardly a bargain, it's good to see flipped Nags fall back into the three digits. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 500wt_1120
