I don't think they're "clowns" at all. I got my first choice and most of the people that I know who tried got something in their top five.

Post Re: SDCC hotels
anyways... last year I had a hotel about the same distance & they have a bus that shuttles you til 2 to 3am on most days of the con. they even have a site close by to check you in, so you dont have to get your badge at the convention center. very satisfied at how convenient it was.... although i did pass out on the bus going back at night. not sure if that's any consolation

This year seems to have been done better than the last few...but they are still clowns. Evil clowns at that. Just because you got what you wanted, doesn't mean they do it right. The system is totally screwed up, even though we got what we wanted this year as well.

They are putting more hotels up or unclaimed (with deposit) hotels for direct booking through the Comic-Con website on the 22nd at 9am PST. I'm not sure what's going to be left, but it may give you a better chance/rate if you at least try them on the 22nd.

The last two years I have gotten a hotel with my plane early on. What are the advantages of going through the SDCC to get hotels?
