I'm on a toy hunt again, and I was surprised to learn in an email that Tokyobuyers is requesting a deposit, before bidding on my auctions .

I know that Celga requires a deposit, but Tokyobuyers has not required a deposit on any of my past orders. If you are using this deputy buyer service, can you please tell me if you've experienced a request for a deposit? Thanks for any feedback in advance!

but i was always wondering why they would bid on your desired toys WITHOUT a deposit.....so, nothing negative that they now request a deposit , in my opinion.....

I only used their service a few times, but they are really fine folks with fair fees/prices and not as impolite as some guy that rhymes with "asato" and sells stuff for flipper-deluxe prices..... just sayin...

Tokyobuyers has always required a deposit. This is not new.

I split my Tokyobuyers order with my friend every time, so we share the EMS cost. In the past when we've gone on buying sprees, and run up $300+ bills with them - they typically ask for a deposit or partial payment before continuing to bid/buy more things for us. Given this has only come up in the past when they've already invested $XXX in us, it's never bothered me.

And as far as I can tell, I didn't receive the same e-mail you did about the deposits pre-buying, but perhaps my friend did.

Just received an email from TB. They've informed me that this is their "new" standard policy, but they also said they'd immediately refund any of my deposit, if the auctions are unsuccessful, so that sounds ok to me. Just didn't want them to hold on to a deposit, if the auctions didn't end in my favor, like some "other" deputy service!
