I went to the record store last year... it was actually lots of fun! Haven't decided if I'm going this year, but if I do... anything I should try picking up for boardmembers?

Possibly the Pink Floyd 12" and Peter Tosh and Charlotte Gainsbourg 7"es.
So what's the story with this? I remember vaguely hearing about it last year. Do I just go to one of my local shops and hope they have these pressings?

yea. you can see if there are any participating near you. all of these are released on that day... usually there are a few that are rare and everyone wants (so some people get in line early). Store may do some other promo stuff too. I got in line pretty early... there's a mad scramble once you once they open up. Gets the blood flowing! It also varies from store to store. I think some hardly get anything in.

Awesome. All of my favorite record stores are participating (not surprised) and one store that I haven't been to yet but should probably check out since it's called 99 Cent Records.

HAHA sure. Yeah. I remember having to break out of my nerd shell last year as a bunch of guys with lists yelled names of 7" over my head at a counter and were handed the last copies of stuff right behind me. OOF!

Thats crap!

Sadly enough Im not excited about much music these days. The only ones that looked some what enticing to me were the pink floyd and rush records. When I moved to SF there were soooooo many stores, now there are only a few left. And this is in the largest DJ city in the world. SAD!

But on a happy note Im glade they even have a record store day

I've never heard of Record Store Day before, on account of my never being to a real record store. MCR picture vinyl would make a nice display piece...

screw that - OPETH has a 7" coming out. Y'all know I'll be making a few trips to the stores in Chi-town

Kozik is ready, looks like he's put in a lot of work for this release...

The Opeth 7" is the only thing I'd consider picking up, and that's a huge maybe.

I need a Rekords Rekords Record 10-inch. It has a queens of the stone age song on it and a few other tracks...

My store got zero.

I have terrible luck at record stores; I try to support local here in Philly (AKA and Repo, mainly) but the last two times I tried to get a "day of" release (the most recent being PEER AMID by Skull Defekts feat. Daniel Higgs) they didn't get it.

Nor did they have it a week later.
Or two weeks later.

Given my contempt for Amazon, I eventually itunes'd it. Ugh. Still want the inhand item, so maybe I'll try again.
