 My shot at some Kaiju
so this Japanese company asked for 2 designs to be made like the OG crummy vinyl kaijus. 2 heads 2 arms on a common body.
heres my initial concept.

I really like your take on the 2 heads/2 arms on a common body. Wasn't what I expected to see. I quite like the squid one - but maybe needs to be "kaijued" up a little. It might be a little too literal currently.
Nice designs though.

They're fun, but they have more of a 50s pulp monster feel to them rather than something you'd see on Ultraman. I can imagine trying to make two distinct monsters while sticking to the parts swap concept is a real challenge.
A couple of suggestions: don't feel compelled to give it eyes/fangs/etc., not every organism has (or needs) these. Start with a real plant or animal, try and capture it's "spirit". Very Shinto, I know...
(Also, I think the names got swapped. ika=squid, ebi=shrimp)

They are both pretty nice, but Ika Kun is more my style...I'm liking the multiple eyes, and weird invertebrate feel to it. Makes me want to get back into entomology classes!
Ebi Kun has more of the humanoid/cephalopod cross thing going on. I might like it more if it were less humanoid somehow...
BTW, How did you pick the names for these? Ebi is shrimp, and Ika is (I think) cuttlefish.---did you have either of these animals in mind with the names?
I just noticed Roger's mention of the names; I agree with him on this...they look swapped.

I think the squid dude needs weirder eyes. I been screwin around with different detial..im mor wondering if the basic ' body style; is interesting..as these are just the initial roughs.
I wanted to do something different from a humanoid or dinosaur body shape.
I axed the dudes in Japan to name them ' Demon Squid' and 'God Lobster' properly so dont fixate on my names.

The basic body style is cool. The fact you steered away from the humanoid and went something totally in a different direction is cool.

I'm liking it better than the first squid. It's more demonic.
