Post Pan's Labyrinth poster from Mondo- shut out, grrrrrrr!
UUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRGHH.....

When I read, some four or five months back, that Mondo would be doing a Pan's poster, I signed up for their mobile tweets. Lo and behold, after months of receiving tweets at all hours for things I mostly don't care about, the poster was finally released this week. I was absolutely determined to get one; basically took this morning off and waited at the computer, refreshing the Mondo Store page constantly. I clicked on the regular version of the poster THE SECOND the image was there; got one in my cart; hit checkout; entered my email and password... and the poster was gone from my cart. And within the hour, there's 30 up on eBay, at astronomical prices.

BLECCH. I know, I know- this sort of thing is common with limited web releases of all kinds of items... probably not even worth complaining about... just SUCH a big effin' letdown after all this wait....

Mondo makes me a sad panda, blink and you miss it. I tried to get one of those Goblin Troll 2 shirts, the order went through I was all "fuck yeah," 2 days later... Refund "fuck no."

Wish I'd known, I think they were selling a small number of the prints at Alamo Ritz on Monday and Tuesday along with a screening of the movie. I'd thought about going, since I've really never seen the movie and always prefer theater viewings over home.. but me and my friends flaked.

I also had no idea the Vermilyea Troll 2 shirt sold out? My friends have them, and I saw one at the brick & mortar shop in the past few months. They also show them still available on the website - have you checked again?

I always find it odd when I see really hateful posts (ungawa222's is NOT one) in the comments section of different blogs that are just bashing the shit out of Mondo. The only thing they could ever possibly do to adjust the sales to be "more fair" is to run it as a lottery, vinyl toy style.. rather than let them go to the fastest clicks/bandwidth. I just assume there's probably 10x the number of people trying to buy a print on any given launch than there ever are trying to enter any toy lottery, so perhaps that is not a feasible idea.

Yeah, I have no hate at all for Mondo- I love what they're doing, you can tell they love what they're doing, they've chosen some amazing talents to partner with, and their attention to quality is great. Also, by following them so closely to try to get the Pan's print, I ended up getting the Santa Sangre print, which I love.

It's just the sheer frustration of having something so tantalizing be so hard to get. Now, that's a feeling I think all of us here are quite familiar with , but these prints are harder to get than some of the rarest toys out there. It would be really interesting to see them try a lottery approach.

That Santa Sangre print is GORGEOUS in-hand. Most of the pigment is metallic.
