Almost seems too good to be true.
Like an April Fools joke or something.
That is ridiculously awesome.

As a bladesmith I find quite a bit of beauty in scrap iron and this should be dumbfoundingly cool. I would love to see some realistic rust with the body colors on from the art work.

Okay... Okuda-san sent me pics of the sculpt... he asked me not to share 'em until after he previews the sculpt at his SuFes table this weekend, but
SUPER-FREAKING-COOL!!!

Holy shit, this is awesome. I'm hoping this is in-scale with the Arklons, because that would be fucking AMAZING. But even if it weren't, I'd still love to get one of these!

Shit...well, it couldn't hurt to ask: Mike, can you tell what the size of the toy is from the pics? And more importantly, can you tell us what it is if you know it???

'Cause the more and more I think about this, the more my head swirls at the thought of this being in scale with the other Arklons...

Would if I could, Sanjeev!
From the pics Okuda sent, I can't tell a thing for sure about size; it's on a solid blue backdrop with no frame of reference. If I had to guess, though, given the size of most Atelier G-1 pieces, I think it would be safe to say standard-ish size, 8" - 9".

First off, the design looks phenomenal. I have to say, though, that I'm torn as to whether I'd want it sized like an Arklon, or standard sized. It clearly has major nods to the Ark designs, and would look great alongside those figures, but at the same time, I like to keep my kaiju standard sized... really looking forward to seeing the sculpt either way. One saving grace, I suppose, is that a 6" Arklon-scale sculpt should be cheaper ;)

The "Garakutagigas" is a "junk giant," a golem of garbage and industrial waste. And standing 9.5 inches tall it will have an imposing presence.

Seems like a great size to me!

Can I just say that what also makes this cool is that it's the first original design Atelier G-1 has tackled. Okuda is a terrific sculptor with a unique style of realism; he's been a great, consistent, but relatively under-appreciated (IMO... at least stateside) force in the scene for over a decade now. I think the wide appeal of this piece will give him the level of recognition he so well deserves.

Looking true to the art! This guy is going to make or break with paint, I think. Regular toyetic sprays might fall a little short on this guy. I'd love to see them go all out and get the paint a little closer to the art with the details and multiple colors of rust and wear.

The only other thing I can see is that, with the way the legs appear to attach, it isn't going to *do* much as a figure. Swivel arms and swivel legs don't do much posing wise, but it should look damn good. Unless the arms are on ball-joints like the Zudon eye, which it almost looks like they could be. That would be amazing.

Looks like the torso on the sculpt has more details than the painting.

All in all, wow, amazing!

I'm very excited by the enthusiasm you've all shown about Garakutagigas--thanks, everybody! The vinyl will stand 9.5 inches --- I was blown away when I first heard. So, Sanjeev, definitely bigger than the Arklons! It would be cool to see this rendered as a die-cast...someday. At that size it would also be ridiculously expensive. Still, I can dream... I'm working on the packaging art and some other details. Thanks again for all the good buzz!
