 FATTY AND TURTLE ARE FRIENDS.
I just got the Sakamoto Showten Standing Turtle figure and it is really fantastic:
Every VOTOMS vinyl this one-man operation produces keeps raising the bar. He truly is an inspiration. Now we have to wait six months for the next batch...

These are very nice! Are they both by the same company? Which figure is which?

Yep, same company. You can see their web site here:

The Fatty is on the left, and the Standing Turtle is on the right. I also have the blue Snapping Turtle coming to me.

Damn those are sweet Roger. I had no idea there were Votoms vinyls. Is it still possible to get the Scope Dog or Red Shoulder?
I love Votoms, I have a metal and plastic Scope Dog model that opens up and folds up into the kneeling pose. It has like a million attatchments, weapons, accessories. That thing was my favorite toy growing up.
I also have a manga that has super detailed schematics of all the equipment from the series, from space ships all the way down to side arms. I couldn't read it, so I have no idea what the story was about, but the artwork was amazing, and the mechs are the best ever, way better than stupid Gundam.

He did a couple of runs of the Scopedog variants, and you can find them on Yahoo Japan occasionally, but they do tend to cost a lot when you get them that way. Also, the early releases of the Scopedog don't stand up well. I have what I believe is the first release and, well, read the review and discussion here:

The quality of the Fatty and Turtle is a much much better than the Scopedogs. A high-fat review and subsequent discussion is here:

I love VOTOMS (that's probably obvious by now). The recent DVD release from CPM was really good. The box set comes with a tremendous amount of background material in English that covers all of that stuff in your manga and then some.

I liked your pic and would like to see the Scopedog too. I had one of the red shoulder Yamamatos on order, but then cancelled it right before they were released.
By the way, I have the guy that fits in the Yamamato version brand new in the box with all the accesories if anybody is interested (I ordered that ahead from another store).

Guys, click on the links for my reviews, there are pics of the Scopedog there. It looks like the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
I think the Yamato Scopedog is the best VOTOMS toy that has ever been done and I strongly recommend it if you're into robots.

I have an extra blue Snapping Turtle. It's up for grabs, $80 shipped via USPS Priority Mail. Please send me a private message if interested.
