How Many Hours Do You "Collect" Per Week?
Hey All,
Doing a quick survey...how many hours per week do you think you spend "collecting" including:

I figure I spend about 10hrs/wk...how about the rest of you?

Crazy when you think about it. I'm on here daily for up to an hour and longer on the weekend, so 10 hours sounds about right

It's 4:30 in the morning and I'm on here. What do you think. A low estimate for me would be about 40 hours a week.

Re: How Many Hours Do You "Collect" Per Week?
I check here out of habit I guess, which is still often but not as often as I use to. At one point I was dedicating 25 + hours a week searching and gathering information trying to find toys. Now not so much. Space/exchange rate/ and general apathy set in. Still love toys, still collect, but now it's very selective. I guess in a way it's good that I actually can have money in my pocket for what I really want when it comes out instead of always scrambling. Big bonus is that I'm not linked 24-7 to toys and can go outside more often to breathe.

Re: How Many Hours Do You "Collect" Per Week?
maybe 15-20 hrs a week. but it's mostly just reading, searching and window shopping online--but I'm in front of a computer all day with internet access when I'm at work. at home I may spend 30mins a day or every other day. a very small percentage of that time is spent actually buying something.

Re: How Many Hours Do You "Collect" Per Week?
It'd be easier to do this if I calculated the hours I slept and used the bathroom in a week, added them then subtracted that from the total hours available in a week.

Number of hours aside, I'm proud do say that most of the time is just browsing / reading / looking, and only 5-10% is shopping & buying I think that's the most positive spin I can put on it.

I spend many hours here each week, but go months without buying anything. Some of that is due to lack of money, but I think another big factor is that S7 doesn't really carry the toys that they use to anymore. And I don't feel like paying the exchange rate + shipping to buy toys from Japan very often.

Definitely not as much as before. But then it's still too much. Need to take a break from KC again.

Re: How Many Hours Do You "Collect" Per Week?
Hmmm... I never really thought about it that much.. But it's a lot... There are days when I am barely on, and then there are those days that I can spend almost all day browsing.. On the days that I don't have time to browse, I usually spend at least 30min at night (on my phone in bed before I go to sleep) checking the usuall sites (i.e. SB, KC, GT, Rotofugi, Lulubell, etc..).. Then there are those days when I can spend give or take 10 hours just browsing, looking, wishing, etc.. And then there are the average days when I can spend 2-6 hours browsing.. I usually am browsing from my phone, so a lot of the time I won't post anything unless it's something short. I guess depending on the week, I can spend anywhere from 10 - 42+ hours a week... The average of the above would be 26 hours per week, which seems more or less how much I probably spend.. But I never really calculated all of this.. So it's just a "guesstimate"... And this includes (but is not limited to): Browsing on SB (a majority of these hours are spent on SB), browsing other sites that are kaiju related (including stores which I usually just look and can't buy due to low fundage), looking through my own collection, rearranging shelves, playing with some of the toys, looking through some kaiju-related books, going to Rotofugi, hunting down certain toys, buying toys (I don't buy as often as I used to, but I still manage to get some toys here and there if I can afford it at the time), chatting about toys with fellow collectors as well as some admirers, etc... This is a very enjoyable hobby of mine that I am enthusiastic about. Growing up, I've tried to find a hobby that I could stick with (i.e. rock collecting (was probably my first), building models, shot glass collecting, etc..), but I just never fully got into those things and those hobbies never really stuck. However, collectiong toys has always been a part of me (although I didn't consider it a hobby growing up), and through the years it developed into collecting and admiring (mainly) kaiju. Besides kaiju, I still collect a few other toys here and there, nothing specific, just mainly toys that I really like and would like to have.. But my main focus is on kaiju (of which there is an enormous and beautiful variety). Kaiju has become such a passion of mine that I don't ever see myself growing out of it. Re: How Many Hours Do You "Collect" Per Week?
Collecting = life.
And I'm not saying that to try to sound cool or anything; I honestly mean it. I don't think of it as a separate activity like that.
I don't differentiate between collecting and other things, because I'm really never not collecting. There is never really any downtime because I'm always chasing something, toy or otherwise, even if it's just in the back of my mind while I'm at work or doing something else.
That's honestly like saying "how many hours a week do eat"? I'm sure I could calculate it, but it doesn't really matter because it's a continuous thing that I'm going to do every single day.

Re: How Many Hours Do You "Collect" Per Week?
I'll go with a conservative three hours, most of which are spent here or on gh. I haven't felt like a collector in months =\
