 Facebook vs. Twitter
I've finally realized the appeal of Twitter. It's only taken like 2 years. While the juggnaut Facebook is a more sticky site with all of it's games and photos and what not, it seems like Twitter is better for dynamic communication. Why do you think this is?
is it because Twitter is better on mobile devices? The whole @username thing where you can quickly check your mentions tab? the stream of conciousness?
Why Twitter? Why Facebook?

 Re: Facebook vs. Twitter
Twitter is probably better now since Facebook is heading towards becoming myspace because of all the applications and added privacy concerns. But like Zuckerberg says in the Social Network, you can't tell someone's relationship status on twitter (I think) and it's probably harder to find people you know/haven't seen a while
I don't really use twitter myself, but the whole hashtag thing is pretty cool. And you can get instant updates from practically anyone, without too much clutter

 Re: Facebook vs. Twitter
I'm oldschool. I guess I can see the value in both but I have a small network of friends so both sites aren't really relavent to me. Those people know what I'm doing and don't need to log on to a website to have updates on myself. I also don't have the time to post stuff on twitter.

Twitter is surfing the flotsam of the Matrix, Facebook is simply circle-jerk. Then again, nobody likes me, so I might be biased..

 Re: Facebook vs. Twitter
Twitter is a lot more fun and interesting and simple and tolerable so it has that going for it. But it's not a juggernaut. Facebook is the homebase of internet identity for a staggering amount of users. Twitter is nice but I give it a year before it's in the hands of Google, Microsoft, Apple or FB itself.

 Re: Facebook vs. Twitter
I think it depends on what you are using them for really. From a "business" point of view - Facebook is a necessary evil. You really need to have one. Twitter, you can survive without, but can and will hit a totally different market. FB has a longer life span, where as Twitter exists in the moment, anything a day old, is gone, forgotten. From a personal point of view - FB I detest, but not living where I grew up, it keeps me in touch with people (some of whom I couldn't care less about) and allow me to shove shit punk onto people's feeds. Twitter can be loads of fun, especially when you're/I'm drunk. It's more of a steady stream of brain farts. Both, from a user pov, keep you updated about various interests you may have but from different angles. I have a personal one and a CB one, the CB one I keep strictly to film related stuff, because that's what people expect. My personal one, well... Whatever

I live my life in the real world, thanks.
(I realize there is a certain irony in my posting that sentence on a message board.)

 Re: Facebook vs. Twitter
I only started using FB more because I had a kid and my mom and sister (who both live in another state) don't know how to use anything else computer based. Also a few friends from the past feel like answering an email is an insane way to communicate and only communicate via FB messages like total assholes.
I prefer Twitter and even Tumblr. Both are more fun. I don't see them as "social media" so much as just a channel of constant information (the importance of said information is generally very little to none, but who said shit we say needs to have meaning? Some bullshit college professor?) I'm not "social" at all on them actually. I don't use either to socialize. Both are outlets for me (and others) to put out dumb garbage with no meaning and no regard for who might be reading it. FB it seems like you have to think about who might read it, people at work, family, the FB police, blah blah blah, so safe.
Short answer: FB is long and boring and is overbloated. Twitter (and to an extent tumblr) are short, sweet, to the point and with no point at all sometimes. Just how I like it.
To people who are all "I don't use internetz" well awesome! I hate living in the real world.

 Re: Facebook vs. Twitter
I enjoy twitter immensely more than fb. More toy/band/media related stuff and less the people I know. I like the abruptness of it as well, 140 characters and then move on.

Don't have Facebook account. Setup Twitter about a year ago for SSSS notifications but don't use it anymore.
