"Cool" or "Don't like"? I guess we really have de-evolved into "+1" posts and zero critical thought. And here I was, thinking I was trying to qualify my "don't like" with some rational discussion. And before you go off the handle again, "rational" doesn't mean we all blow each other. It means real talk. Which is apparently well beyond you, given your adamant defensiveness. Y'know, since my buddy brought the now-nuked MK thread to my attention (no, it wasn't Crab Rangoon! ), I've had a few people contact me via PM or e-mail saying they were 100% on board with my disappointment. It ain't a fucking coincidence. Why is this important? Aren't your principles to you? Isn't one of the cornerstones of this board RFSO and other communal, pro-social principles? Or are we all just blind, dick-riding consumers now? But whatever. It's pretty clear that some people get it...while others refuse to acknowledge it. Sucks being the elephant in the room, I guess.

This board went to blind consumerism years ago.

I think Dan's camo is very ineffective. I can't imagine those Zags blending into any environment.

the best defense is no defense at all. take the beating, remain quiet, and no holes end up deeper dug than need be.
i wish someone would rip on me so i could not defend myself. didn't we learn from charlie sheen? "winning" only matters if you feel like you're losing all the time.

Re: D-LuX Customs - Ruining your beloved toys since 2005
I stopped taking what you said into any consideration hours ago. I don't post pics of my stuff for 3 pages of persecution. I don't care if you get 400 pms... Those people can pm me too if they have an issue. Everyone hides in pm's... Have you even read anything I've posted. You picked 1 sentence to dissect. And yeah I'm defensive. I busted my ass to make these. The point is who gives a shit. I don't want rational conversation in my thread. I'm just posting pics of my toys. I'm happy I'm important enough to take up most of your time this evening. Sanjeev wrote: "Cool" or "Don't like"? I guess we really have de-evolved into "+1" posts and zero critical thought. Re: D-LuX Customs - Ruining your beloved toys since 2005
I really "LIKE" that idea +1... No ya know what Cletus?... +2 Oops I forgot " I really " LIKE" that idea +1...No, ya know what Cletus?... +2" <----Cammo purple, don't hate!!! Edit: I'd just like to say that if I came off as being a jerk to anyone last night, I apologize... I don't know D on any level except through the board. (The same way I know anyone here) I went through old posts last night and there seemed to be a lot more love on the boards, back in 2006, I'm sorry I missed out on a lot of that. However I'm sure we're all relatively good people in "real" life, so why not let that dribble through to the net... If I don't like a band, I don't go to their show... If I hate a movie, I don't go see it, and If I'm appalled by an artis'ts work, I don't go looking for stuff they've made so I can slam it... So far there have been a lot of the same people complaining about these camo zags that were complaining about his Color change flake being repetitive... To me that says that you don't like his work, so why take time out of your day to look at it.... This isn't something he was trying to sell you, he had already sold it, to someone who loves it, let's all stop hating... I don't think the person that bought it will ever be in a conversation with someone and tell them it was done by Gargamel, I do however think he would say a guy from Michigan, named D-Lux made it... I look at this Zag and think it's completely obvious that it wasn't done by Gargamel, the funny thing is, in general I'm never really excited over camo... However if I saw these in a local store (if there was a local store) they D-Lux versions would be very tempting... There are a lot of great people on the boards, but every time there's an argument like this, it seems like an excuse for a lot of people who have personal beef with each other to fight about something stupid... The person that the argument is about ends up getting trashed on, so people that already don't like each other can hash out their problems... We all know how to use the PM button (most of the time), why don't we do that, instead of looking for excuses to attack each other... Didn't anyone ever learn anything from the raves in the 90's? P.L.U.R. MAaaannnn!!! P.S. This place is honestly special, it's one of the best online communities I've been privy to belong to, Let the love shine in people... Don't let Dr. Gori win again!

D is a really great artist to work with as far as commisions go, he has a solid way of working out the colors with lots of comunication and if something is a little off from his artist perspective he's got a way of pointing it out without being a dick (which is a rarity) regardless of hate I hope this doesn't keep you from showing off your great work, can't wait to pull enough $$$ out of my ass to get some more of your work in my collection as far as camo goes http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/02/style/02iht-fcamo.1.5109218.html in reality he's just ripping off the french and who dissaproves of that?

Re: D-LuX Customs - Ruining your beloved toys since 2005
Yesterday was a bad bad day. Luckily my fiancé and little boy are still ok. So any negative comment or bit of criticism was going to get a firestorm of f bombs and defensiveness.
I appreciate the defense of people. But if others don't like it. They don't like it. I should be used to the hate now.

He had plenty of valid points, but calling me a bootlegger and thief is a bit over the line. That's what pissed me off, and I don't think I should have to apologize to anyone for painting these... I will apologize to anyone who got the brunt of my defense, but why should I sit back and be bashed on time and time again. Why should I be the 6th grade nerd who everyone beats up, and the counselor just tells me to "kill them with kindness"... Fuck if people can call me a thief, THIEF... I can tell them to get fucked once and a while... On that note. I really liked these 2 zags, and so do the owners... Can we just leave it at that...

Re: D-LuX Customs - Ruining your beloved toys since 2005
Aiight, well this has been fun (what color font is supposed to denote sarcasm again???). I still think this is an important discussion, but I see no reason to keep polluting D-LuX' thread with it. When the image of his split camo Zag was first brought to my attention, my *instantaneous* reaction was utter disappointment. Clearly, it was to others as well. That has to mean something. BUT I didn't know much at all about D, himself, or the rest of his work. As an artist myself, I just saw red and thought "motherfucking biter...". Seemed pretty obvious to me... I've never been one to mask my anger, but I directed it at the painting of this particular toy, and not the painter, himself. Unfortunately, this appears to be one FUCKER of a hot-button topic around here. Lots of defensiveness led to a lot of singing with fingers stuffed in ears. And frankly, people ignoring arguments I took the time to write in as logical a way as possible pisses me off VASTLY more than when someone harshly criticizes my artwork. "Haters gonna hate"? Please...it's a funny in-joke to use as a quote, for sure...but there are people who *actually* think that. Not only does that attitude utterly disregard any and all criticism, but it *even* attempts to turn it around on the person who brought it up. That is fucking craven and spineless. But that said, I'm now starting to get the distinct impression that this sort of argument has been going on for a LONG time here...and that many opponents of ALL customs have gotten pretty vicious (read: NOT logical). So I can understand how some pro-custom advocates have become gun shy over the years. But here's the deal: I'm NOT that anti-custom dude. I may be behind the times on the Customs board [hey, I collect fucking Godzilla toys...what the fuck is a Zagoran??? ], but I'm a reasonable cat. Heh...one of my very first posts here was a silly glow custom *I* did. And FUCK...my fucking avatar is another glow Daimajin custom I painted. But whatever. Now that things have chilled (and thanks to some PMs with D-LuX), I see that he actually does get what I'm saying now...free of defensiveness. We can agree to disagree on the details...but I don't think this is magically gonna stop being a hot-button topic. Would I still call D-LuX a "bootlegger"? Nah...that label doesn't capture the intent. Do I think it was a poor, poor artistic decision. Fuck yes. Do I think his two camo Zags are squeezing the life-blood out of this industry? No...but is there a feedback cycle of supply/demand instability between customs and legit releases? Yeah, but what're ya gonna do? Such is life. Let's have a beer.

Re: D-LuX Customs - Ruining your beloved toys since 2005
I found it intresting that D-Lux's title for this thread is "ruining toys" and under San's name it says "comment king". I think that sums up this thread. I had a nice silent laugh to myself when I saw those. Nothing to add except "artistic" and "decision" are two words this artist would not choose to use together. I wouldn't paint someone elses toy either, though I do intend to buy a D-Lux painted one soon. Contradiction is a wonderful thing. Now I am always up for a beer or five, someone yell Shots!
